Should be a typo. Verona is an Italian city, not Verano, just like Naples, Rome, Milan, Genoa, Bergamo, Siena, and Turin. Once AMD drops the official press packet, we can confirm the spelling.

Computerbase.de were present¹ at the Advancing AI event. According to their report, Verano is the 7th-generation EPYC, but whether it is built around a Zen 7 microarchitecture or a variant of the Zen 6 microarchitecture was not discussed by AMD on the event.

Given Zen 6 launches in H2 2026, any 2027 launch is simply a variant of the Zen 6 IP or older. AMD delivering a major core IP upgrade in less than 18 months is almost impossible.

Just as we don't know whether or not AMD will be using the name "Zen 7" for the microarchitecture of the 7th generation EPYC, we don't know whether it is going to be a minor or major update, how long it has been in the works by now, and what the progress rate of this project has been so far.
