3. Downloading oracle Linux image

Hello everyone. Welcome back. In the previous lecture, we downloaded Oracle VirtualBox, and this is step one. Now we will go for step two, and we will download the Oracle Linux image OK remember. We are only downloading now and will not be installing, so I will go to Google and type "download Oracle Linux" and you will find many links, but I just want you to go to this thing called edelvery Oracle.com, where you can download any Oracle product. Remember this: edelvery dot oracle.com. Okay, now a very important note: if you already have an Oracle user name and password, just enter them. So you should have an Oracle user name and password in order to download any products from Oracle. If you do not need to create an account, it is very simple, and the steps for creating an account are also very simple. you only write your email address you will put password andpassword and you will continue this information a small note youwill find here for example company name and work phone If you don't have a company name, just put any dummy information. Okay, very nice. So I already have a username and password in Oracle, so I'll put my password only and sign in. Okay, very nice. You will find this screen. So you will go to the search here and you will write Oracle Linux. So you will choose Oracle Linux. I will go to the last version according to the recording of this video. The last version is Oracle Linux 7.6. You will click here. You will now see that you have been added to the cart; you will go here to select software; and you will click here. Okay, very nice. Following that, you will select your platforms, which should be x86 64 bit okay because my machine is 46 bit, and keep in mind that you should have a 64 bit machine okay, very nice. I'll click like this now a very nice informationmaybe some people they don't know how to know how manypit their machine it's very simple I'll go to my computer, this PC properties, and you'll see that the system type is 64-bit pet operating system, okay, okay, we'll continue now after I choose the platform, I'll go to the "continue" option, okay, I have to accept this one, I'll click here, then continue, very nice, I'll close this screen, no problem, there's no need to download all of these things now. I only require Oracle Linux release seven update six. So you'll find ISO, which is an image, so I'll right-click and select Save Link, and you can save it to any folder you want; I've already downloaded it; you can see it here. This is the ISO image in the downloads folder on my machine, and it will take time because it is 4 GB. Very nice. Okay. And later, we will use this image in order to create a virtual machine. That's it. Just do these steps, and we will continue in the next lecture. Bye.

4. Creating our virtual machine for this course

Hello everyone and welcome back. I hope that you are doing fine. In the previous lecture we downloaded the image for the Linux operating system and also downloaded and installed the virtual box. Today we will start installing Linux. Okay. Okay. First thing, we will open the Oracle virtual Pok software. And until now, I don't have any virtual machines. So the first step, I will go to the machine and I willcreate a new so I need to create a new virtual machine. Now I have to give a name to this virtual machine. I will name it Oracle 18 C. And the type should be Linux, and the version should be Oracle 64 PIT. A very important note, maybe some people, they have already operating system 64 butthey cannot see here 64 Pit. If you face this issue, this means that you have to update the PIU information. Okay, you can search in the YouTube or any websites howto update the Pyos in order to read the 64 bit. So this is the basic information you give a name, for example, Oracle 18 C. You can do anything. OK, and this is the type of Linux, and the version is Oracle 64 bit.We will click next. Now I should mention how many Ram Ineed to give to this virtual machine. Actually, my computer has 16 GB of RAM. So I will give up half of my RAM for this machine. So I will put 80, which is mean 8GB. OK, very nice. If you have eight, give four. Okay, so just give half of your memory, and remember that this memory will be released after you shut down your virtual machine. So don't worry. When you open the virtual machine, half of your memory will go to this virtual machine. But if your virtual machine is closed and you don't use it, don't worry; the remaining memory will be packed back into the original machine. Remember this information. Okay. So no worry, I will click now. Next, keep this option. Create a virtual hard disk. Now click Create and choose the hard disc file type. Just keep the first option, which is a VDI VirtualBox disc image. Okay. Now click next. And here you will find two options: dynamic and fixed size. Keep the first option, which is "dynamically." You can read about this information. It's very simple, but the best practise is to just keep it dynamically allocated. After that, click next. Now the file location and size You have to choose the file location for your virtual disc machine. And choose allocation that you have a size. That's it. So I'll click here, I will go to this PC, and you can see that I have a lot of free memory in the drive called my work. So you can choose any drive that you have space for. So I will click on "like this" and I will save. As a result, you will discover Oracle 18c dot VDI. So this contains the image for everything regarding the Oracle virtual machine. I'm going to click now and save how much hard disc space you want to give me. I told you before that you need 25 to 30 GB in order to install the Oracle database and Linux. So you can put 25 or 30 here. In my case, I will use 100 GB. Okay. I will click Create now, and you will find now that I have the virtual machine created. But this machine now doesn't contain anything. It only has a hard disc and a ramp. So I need to start installing software on this machine. OK, so this is Part One of this lecture. In the next lecture, we will continue to install Oracle Linux.

5. Installing oracle Linux

Hello everyone and welcome back. In the previous lecture, we created our virtual machine; we call it Oracle 18 C. Now we will start to install Oracle Linux on this machine, but before that, we have to make some setups, so you will go to the virtual machine, make a right click, and then click Setting. The first thing you should do you will go tothe network and you will go to adapter one youwill go here and you will select Bridge Adapter. What does this mean? This means that you want the virtual machine to use the driver in your original machine for the internet. Okay, that's it. Following that, we will go to the system and select USB Tablet as the pointing device. Why do I do this? Actually, I find a lot of problems regarding the mouse pointer in the Oracle Virtual Machine. If you choose this option, a USB tablet, you will not face issues with the mouse. Okay, very nice. And we'll go to the general; we'll go to the advance; we'll go to the shared declaration; and we'll use this here. We will use Pie Directional as well as Pi-directional and drag-and-drop. Actually, this option will work after we install the necessary additions, and these two options allow us to copy and paste and drag and drop between our original machine and the virtual machine. Okay, so that's it. It's very simple and easy, so that's it. Now you will click OK again we will go to the settings,we'll go to the storage and we will go to this option You can see this CD and this code Add an optical drive I will click Add, and you will find this window I will choose Add Disk, then you will go here, and you will click Add. Now we must go to the download folder and use the image that we downloaded in the previous lectures, so that the machine or virtual machine can pull Linux. Okay, very nice. So I will click this one, I will click now choose, and I will click OK. I will go to this Start page in order to start installing Oracle Linux okay, very nice. Now I will click "Start." Now just press Enter, and you will find that he is shaking up some prerequisites, so wait until 100 is finished, and after that, it will start doing some shipping Also, you have to wait a little until the installation screen starts the installer one moment okay. Now you will find the welcome. I will choose the language, so I will stay in the English language I will go here, and I will click Continue. Now we have to go for all these options one by one in order to start configuring Oracle Linux. Okay, very nice. First thing we will go to the date and timeI will choose the region I am in asia. I will choose the city; I will choose Dubai. Then I will go and click done keyboard I willkeep it English language support I will keep it English. Now I will go to the software selection. I will click here. I will go to this option server with GUI, which is short graphical user interface." So this means that I will have a nice layout like Windows. Now I will go here and Iwill select another ads on I willselect development tool and also compatibility libraries. Okay, so this is the recommendation in order to install an Oracle database. Okay, then you will click done. Now we'll go to the security policy and disable like this off before clicking done. After that, and this is a very important note, We will go to the network and get the host name. The first step is to go here and click on Now you will find that you will have a new IB address for this machine, so it will be 192-168-1103. In your case, you will find another IB address. So this is the IP address for your new machine. Now you will go here, and you will choose a host name. So it will be the localhost local domain. I will create test.com. I prefer you to do the same things that I'm doing. Okay, very nice. Then you will click here to apply. So you will find here currenthostnametis.com, and this is the IB address for you, which is very important for the Oracle database. Okay, now I will click "done." Now the last thing I have to do is go to the installation destination, and I have to make sure that this tick in the black is ticked. Then I will click. Done. Now wait a minute. He will do some configuration. Then this bottom will be enabled, which will begin installation. Click now on "Begin Installation." Now, this process will take a long time, maybe a half hour. So meanwhile, we can put a password on the root user and also create another user. So the first thing we will do is go to the root password, and the root password or root username is the highest level in the Linux operating system. So this is the superuser in Linux, called root. Remember this. So I will click here, I will enter a password for this user, and I will repeat this password. I will click "Done." Then I will create another user. So create your own user here. So for me, I will create a user and make this user an administrator as well. And I will click here now for the password, and I will confirm the password. So I will put my password, and then I will click "done." So now you have to wait because Linux will start installing huge packages—more than 1440 packages. So wait until all these packages have been installed. After that you will find a small button called report. So just wait until the process is finished. Okay okay. Now you will find the packages complete. You will find a button called "Report." Click "Report" and wait a little. Click Enter. You will find some strange messages. Ignore it, don't worry. Now we have to continue with some configuration. We will go to the licence information, we will accept the license, and we will click "done." Then we'll click Finish configuration. Also, wait a little. Now you will find the username that you have created on the installation page. So I see in my case had it I willclick here and I will put the password and enter. So congratulations! We've already installed Linux. Now maybe you will find some additional setup. You have to do it's.very simple setup. So you will find this Click Next. Make sure that the language is English. Next, as well as the typing Click Next and also turn off the privacy here, then click Next and skip, then start using an Oracle Linux server and go here. Click Close. No problem. So we'll install Oracle Linux here. We can open a terminal bar, right click, and open a terminal. And here we can write Linux commands. We will click close, and I just want to teach you something very simple and nice. Now the virtual machine is up and running. I want to close it. I will go here, and I will choose power for the machine. Click okay, nice. Okay, very nice. Now I want to run the virtual machine again. What I will do is go to the virtual box, and I will make sure that I select the Oracle 18 C or your machine. Now only you have to do is only click Start. That's it. There's no need to do all the steps that I did before. All the steps that I took before are for installation. Now, VirtualBox already contains everything you need. So click now, start, and that's it. Click enter, and that's it. Wait until you see the username and password. That's it. So I find the username, and I can put in my password and login to the Linux operating system. So thank you for listening, and I'll see you in the next video.

6. Installing gust additions

Hello everyone and welcome back. In the previous lecture, we installed Oracle Linux. OK, very nice. But you can see now that the size of the screen is very small, and also that I cannot do any copy and paste between the virtual machine and my original computer. For example, if I make a right click and open a terminal, and if I try to take this as a copy, for example, and if I go to my original computer, for example, to open an award document, and try to paste, I will not find the paste option, right? So I cannot make copies and paste between the two machines. Okay? Okay, so now we have some very nice gold guest additions. And I told you before that the guest additions are nice additional features for the operating systems, so it will be a nice size. We can make copies and paste between the two machines, and we can also make a shared folder between the two machines also.Okay, the steps to do the installations for the gist additions are very simple. The first step is to turn off the Linux security. So what we will do is make a right click, and we will open a terminal. So now I'm connecting to my user. I must now switch or change the user to root. So I'll make su route, press Enter, and enter the root password into the box. Now I will make VI and the VIIS the default text editors for Linux. Then I'll type slash et c selinx, then config, and press Enter. So I will use my arrow to descend until I am here. Then I will go here until the end of this. Now I will press Escape in order to edit this file. So I will press escape. Then I will press the letter A in order to add text. So I will press a So you can see here answered. Now I will remove the previous setup, and I will make this a build. Now, why did I do this in the real production we don't do this. Be careful, okay. This is very important. We do this because it is for training purposes now, okay? Because if we keep the first value, we will face a lot of problems when we install the GIST additions and the Oracle database and many features. But in real productions, we don't use this. Some people in the network will add some rules to Linux security and do all the necessary things. But we do this only for training purposes. So it's better to disable the security of Linux. After that, we will press Escape again. Then we'll shift and colonize. Then I will write W and Q which is mean write and quit. Then I will press Enter. So I edit the file easily. Okay, very nice. Now in order for these settings to be affected, we have to report our machine again. So I will make report and enter. I will log in now. and I will press enter. We will wait a little. Okay, now it's a very simple step. We will go to the devices, and we will go here. Insert guest additions. Okay. Then you will find this You will click "run." So now it will ask youauthentication because Harris is administrator also. So I will enter the password for Harid. Then I will press Enter. Now you have to wait a little because it will install some additional modules. So wait until I am finished. So here, too, just wait. So now it's finished. Press Return. To close this window, I will press Enter. and you can see. Now the screen is bigger and everything is nice. Now let's try to see if copy and paste will work. I think it will not work. Now maybe we have to shut down the virtual machine. First, I will right-click to open the terminal. For example, I will try to copy this copy. I will go to the Word document. I will try to make paste and also not working. Now I will shut down the machine and open it again. Now I will go, and I will start again. I will login. I will right-click Open Terminal. I will try to take this copy Now I'll navigate to Word document control V. and it's working fine. Thank you for listening. I'll see you in the next video.

7. Creating shared folder

Hello everyone and welcome back. In the previous lecture, we installed the gift additions. In this lecture we will create a shared folder, and this shared folder will help you a lot. OK? Very nice. So now make sure that you shut down your virtual machine. Then I will go to the virtual machine and open it again. I will go here to the virtual machine, Oracle 18 C. I will make the right click. I will go to settings, then I will go to shared folders. I will go here and I will click "add new shared folder." You will go to the folder path, click here, and choose other. I will choose the shared folder to put my downloads in. Okay, it's up to you. You can make any folder you like into a shared folder between your original machine and the virtual machine. Then I'll create a select folder. I will make it auto-mount, then I will click OK. And again, I will click OK. After that, I will go and start my machine. I'll log in, and you can see that SF underscore download means shared folder; if you try to open it, it'll tell you that you need to put authentication right now because Hadid is a super user, or it's administrator, so he can open it using the administrator's password. But we will not do this. We will cancel, and we will go and make a right-click open terminal. We will change the user to root. We will put the password in now, and we will give the user full access to this shared folder. So what we will do is very simple. We'll use user mod dash a gcapital, then the box SF, and finally had. This means that I will grant access to the VBox shared folder. To Halod. I will press Enter. Okay, very nice. So now, in order for these changes to be effective, I have to reset the machine again. So I will make a report. I will log in. Now if I try to go to the shared folder and open it, it will open without any issue. So, we can now use this shared folder to store any files that you want to share between the virtual machine and your primary computer. Okay, very nice. So thank you for listening, and I'll see you in the next video.
