I'd say those temps are fine. Prime95 is basically a worst case scenario and for typical usage it's unlikely anything else will come close to that sustained power and temp.
Min requirements according to Steam are 4790k, 1050ti, and 8GB RAM. 980ti should be around a 1060/1070 unless there is some other reason I'm not aware that it wouldn't be compatible.
It's decent now, but as the units add up to make realistic scenarios the performance still tanks-- especially on crowded MP servers. MT hasn't really helped a whole lot so far, and some guys are still using ST because they get better performance/less stuttering somehow.
IL2 BoX runs much...
The early HP Reverbs had issues with cables, and in my case where the DP cable plugs into the circuit board itself seemed to have a lot of tension put on it. I got 4 years out of it so I'm not complaining too much. Think it was all finally fixed on the G2V2.
Reverb Gen 1 (mine)
Reverb G2 V1...
I only play DCS and IL2, so not dealing with a battery and wanted an upgrade in resolution. Definitely not happy with the $$ outlay but that's a price of sims.
Something to do with using nvencoding. I didn't realize it until after I bought it and went to to install the software so that was a rude awakening. Varjo does state that on their system requirements page, but I never thought of that even being an issue.
DCS performance has been terrible after the deferred rendering I think it was since 2.5. Prepare to be disappointed in the performance even after spending several $K on a top of the line system.
12700k, 6900XT, 64GB DDR4, HP Reverb
I have 6900XT that has worked well with my G2. Unfortunately it crapped out and now I'm looking at the Varjo Aero to replace it which only supports Nvidia. 4080 Super it will be I guess.
No doubt, guess I was just hoping 1700 would be Intel's AM4 moment. I should've known better.
My old X58 system going to a Xeon on the cheap was pretty sweet though.
I wish more reviews were comparing 12th gen to 14th gen, most seem to just be focused on 13 vs 14. Maybe a 14900k...
Kinda miffed that I bought into LGA1700 partially on the hope of future platform updates, but it looks like they're pretty meaningless. Not sure if even going from 12700k to 14900k would make any meaningful difference for mostly gaming.
Am I missing anything?
I'm a BMW fan (2x335s,1xX5,1xM3). Wife had a X3M40i and even the standard X3 is pretty quick. Stick with the 19 or 20" wheels for a more comfortable ride and more tire options. 21s were stiff still we ditched the RFTs. B48/58 are great engines. 1.5 hour away from my dealer but other than my...
I've had no issues with it on my 12700k *shrug* I mainly play DCS in VR these days with discord, live web browsers, etc open in the background. Latest DCS beta can scale to 32 threads
Just my opinion but I think it's more an issue of pre Win 11 OSes and their schedulers not differentiating p cores vs e cores. W11 should assign the focused application to P cores and background tasks to e cores if no P cores are available.
