Question Wait for 3080Ti or not?

I've never been able to understand this. So you buy a very expensive GPU, $700 dollars or more and want to max everything to get the best quality possible, so obviously you want to enable ray tracing for better effects, but it tanks the performance so much that it makes the gaming experience...

For $50 there is very little options right now, I expect this to change massively in 3 months when we have a lot more stock of GPU's and the full range of cards is released by Nvidia and AMD, but for now your options are very limited. If you can find something like the GTX 1050 4GB for $70...

The 3080ti is supposed to be coming in February, I believe its going to be completely out of stock for at least 1 more month after launch, so at the earliest you would be able to get it in late March, that is 3 months down the line. Buying now though has its own issues though, there is barely...

Question Advice needed: Titan X Pascal 12GB for $250. Good idea?

That is a card that isn't coming until February and that is another paper launch. We still don't have RTX 3090/80/70 and 60ti and the 60ti launched just yesterday. If he sells both he'd have nothing to game on, and in terms of him buying a 3080 for those money, good luck, they are completely out...

I mean as you said yourself the 3060ti is actually faster than the Titan, so you'd be downgrading with it. 12GB of vram don't matter if the core itself can't run games at solid fps. I mean it matters in current top end cards for future proofing as much as possible, since they already run games...

Question Anandtech GPU reviews?

They need to hire another reviewer or have some of the SSD, laptop guys do it. AT has been terrible with GPU reviews and this isn't even anything new, its been going on for the past 3-4 years now! This site really went downhill after anand left!

If you are going to limit it even more, what is the point? I feel like for ray tracing to be viable it needs to be done completely, the full spectrum, which means shadows, reflections, ambient occlusion, etc... it needs to be done at a good quality(not a 720p low texture reflection in the window...

In 3-4 years Ray Tracing will be worth it, right now its a gigantic loss in performance for very specific use and very limited use that hardly makes games better looking and in some cases it even makes them looks worse compared to rasterized effects!

If you are a professional gamer and have a 240hz monitor, you might want more fps, even 300fps on average, because you'd still get lows in the 250 range. But both amd and nvidia have latency reducing technologies implemented. it would be interesting to see someone test them and make a comparison!
