    News AMD 1Q2024 Earnings

A lot of the Mi300x units that have been shipping are shipping on SPR platform. NVidia basically validated 2x SPR + 8x H100 platform. And Mi300x could just swap in for H100 in the same platform. So, some SPR are getting on the market even through this unlikely route. This was all due to time...

Intel processors crashing Unreal engine games (and others)

That's within realm of possibilities. It implies if core counts go up, then iso core power consumption increase (if any) is less than socket power consumption increase.

Vs. RPL? It's like saying "He is better looking than Quasimodo". It's literally the lowest bar to clear. The question will be ARL vs. Zen 4, ARL vs. Zen 5?

Where exactly do you think you are right, and I am wrong? My contention is that there will be more cores in Turin, Turin Dense (vs. Genoa, Bergamo), for that increased power consumption. Are you claiming that Turin core counts will stay the same, but power will go up? (just trying to clarify).

96C Genoa vs. 128C Turin is +25% power draw increase.

I agree. Intel benefited from NVidia reference systems having SPR CPU. Clearly, because NVidia does not perceive Intel as a threat, rather than pairing it with far more capable Genoa CPUs. The customers are forced to use SPR. I wonder what percentage of Intel server CPUs have shipped this...

Turin also has increases in core counts. I am not sure how this ends up as far as power per core, but mentioning only one variable, TDP, is incomplete in light of # of cores changing. It would be more valid in desktop, where the core counts are not changing.

Intel processors crashing Unreal engine games (and others)

That is quite vague: Less power for a lot less performance? I think more interesting comparison is performance at a given power consumption. Do you think Intel will lead? As in: Zen 5 vs. RPL vs. ARL? Strix Point vs. MTL? There is a lot more discussion about absolute performance regardless...

    News AMD 1Q2024 Earnings

Papermaster said as much in one of the investor convergences late last year. That among US based hyperscalers, AMD reached 50% market share.

5% YoY revenue gain, while switching to a new socket is not bad. Next 12 months will be easier to ramp. Both Genoa / Bergamo and Turin.

    News AMD 1Q2024 Earnings

There is some double speak going on, if you pay attention: On IFS, Intel said that their costs are uncompetitive, and there will be huge improvement when they move to EUV. Meaning costs to make RPL are high. Then, they give the dies to the "Products" division at half price, and "Products"...

    News AMD 1Q2024 Earnings

Some time ago, precisely at Q3 2023 earnings conference, Lisa said it takes 7-8 months to produce Mi300. So this was the hardest time for AMD, those 7-8 months, with so much stuff in the oven, and not much coming out of the oven.

Discussion Zen 5 Speculation (EPYC Turin and Strix Point/Granite Ridge - Ryzen 9000)

Any predictions if Zen 5 can match Apple M4 Geekbench 6 score that has been posted, in single thread? They seem to be continuously fudging Geekbanch 6, so not my favorite, but here it is anyway: M4: ~3800 7950: 3068

No, that's impossible. RDNA 3 is what it is, and it is unfixable. Anyone thinking otherwise, is still falling for the same "hype".
