That is also at 720p, so not a very realistic scenario for gaming for most people. The difference would be less at 1080p, or higher resolution. It is a strange comparison though: the latest generation AMD vs a 2 or 3 generation old intel model. He's good, don't waste money upgrading now. If it has performance issues it'll likely be something simple like needing new thermal compound or a fresh OS install. A 10700k is very capable gaming CPU.Not a gaming build today. Im contemplating the upgrade if its actually worth it or not. My son plays ESports at college, and he has the 10700 that he has been running. Trying to see if providing him a better CPU/Mobo/Mem would be worth it in games or if its negligible. Esp with the 4070. Thanks all.
Definitely not worth it today. OP can stay with the current system for one more year, upgrade next year. This means both new gen products from Intel or AMD will have time to launch this year, then stabilize in terms of firmware and pricing in the next 6-9 months. The OP will buy into mature platforms, at decent prices, and will probably get a very strong boost in performance for both games and apps.If he already has the 10700k though, I'm not sure it's worth the cost and hassle of a full platform upgrade.
