Mayhaps. To my mind Musk is at least three levels of volatile malicious above Zuck.Yeah, the real victory would just be seeing them both get punched in their stupid fucking faces.
Which will be first, Elmo telling the Victorian government to "go F* itself" or suing it for adversely affecting his business by violating his "free speech" rights?A lot of big official accounts need to start at least also starting/keeping a Threads presence. Some people want to leave the cesspool that is Fascist Twitter, but can't follow certain accounts on other platforms. This Australian provincial government has had enough though

That sounds so calming and relaxing. Can I pay 12K to get that experience?Just an FYI but Musk just gave every North American Tesla with the hardware to do Full Self Driving a free month to try it out. So watch out for a lot of folks new to FSD trying it out.
It’s also out of “beta” and is now called “Full Self Driving (Supervised)” which to me is an admission by Tesla about the capability and a half step towards rectifying the optics of calling it Full Self Driving.
I gave it a shot today and it did a decent job of driving me to work. Biggest inputs I had to do was signal to force it around a van with its blinkers in doing 20 under the speed limit. It handled turns, stops, merging, pretty well. Even moved over in the lane when it saw a lawn guy edging along the frontage road.
For me though, it felt like teaching a 16 year old to drive. Constant vigilance (Supervision!) to make sure it wasn’t going to do something stupid.
Actually the first thing I did when I realized we had access to FSD was to check if I’d accidentally bought it through the app. That sounds so calming and relaxing. Can I pay 12K to get that experience?
And you are exactly right. As we all know from testimonials, it can do something really stupid at any time. No LIDAR/Radar. Brilliant move Elon.
And the problem is, the 1% it can't do well happens at random.Actually the first thing I did when I realized we had access to FSD was to check if I’d accidentally bought it through the app.
Anxiety has been my issue with the base autopilot as well. If I’m letting it drive I’m on edge. Personally I’ve been using it as a backup to my driving on long trips. I’ll have it on but I’m still driving like normal.
My car is old enough that it still has both the radar and ultrasonic sensors. Whether the FSD software stack actually uses them is another matter.
Since this is still a tech site I will say the visualization it does is impressive. It’s accurately seeing the road, cars, pedestrians, and traffic controls. So far the camera system looks viable. Interestingly when I’ve interrupted control it’s asked me to record a voice description of why so they can continue refining.
I’d say it can handle 99% of driving issues. Unfortunately it needs to handle about 99.999% to be truly autonomous.
I was in my friend's model X driving on the highway with FSD. There were no cars near us nor any thing out of order and the thing decided to change lane to the passing lane. Scared the shit out of me. My friend had to change back. I asked him what happened and he said he didn't know but it happened from time to time.Actually the first thing I did when I realized we had access to FSD was to check if I’d accidentally bought it through the app.

That's their unique implementation of keeping the driver aware.I was in my friend's model X driving on the highway with FSD. Even if it didn’t that 1% should scare the hell out of anyone who understands safety likelihoods. (Although that’s arguably my qualitative assessment)And the problem is, the 1% it can't do well happens at random.
Well if the 1% it couldn't deal with basically only when snow was on the ground, you could deal with that. But a 1% random chance of failure is massive, as you say.Even if it didn’t that 1% should scare the hell out of anyone who understands safety likelihoods. So it mimics human drivers very well.I was in my friend's model X driving on the highway with FSD. There were no cars near us nor any thing out of order and the thing decided to change lane to the passing lane. Scared the shit out of me. My friend had to change back. I'm not sure I'd trust a "tech" company (move fast and break things) to do self driving safely. For example, getting rid of radar was not a great move IMO. There are times when radar just works better than cameras, like snow or fog.Well if the 1% it couldn't deal with basically only when snow was on the ground, you could deal with that. But a 1% random chance of failure is massive, as you say.
