MKHBD is an access journalist. I enjoy some of his tech reviews but I always know I'm watching a lot of fluff too. Everyone knows he is not going to really be totally honest if a review can be too negative. It's how he makes his living. I don't see how lots of clicks validates a review as well. I mean hello, we live in a society where Trump got 70 plus million votes, we have amazingly terrible blockbusters that make hundreds of millions, shitty music that sells millions of records, food chains that are massive and serve shite food, and on and on and on. Popularity means nothing in regard to how valid a review is. I mean this is just sad.

Motor Trend was more honest
  • Compromised in every way by its design
  • Spartan interior takes minimalism too far
  • Doesn't live up to the hype
There was another big review where they said almost the same, that the CT had some cool engineering, but basically just to deal with design problems they created for themselves.

The whole thing is hilariously sad.

Chuck Cook has been testing 'unprotected left turns' with FSD extensively. He's well known in the community. His day job: Airplane Pilot. I'd rather hear from him about the CT instead of virgin jockeys whose only purpose is to make a buck of YT ratings.

Dirty Tesla has also posted several videos of how much CT "sucks" to people

At least Marques tends to remain fairly objective in his videos. The other one's with red wraps not so much. Red wrap virgin also bitched about other Teslas too just for click.

Kara and Nate spent some time trying out the $3000 tent or Basecamp as Tesla calls it. I know there are a lot of members on here who don't care for YT videos but they are THE travel channel on YT right now. IMO they are the current day Rick Steves when it comes to travel.

Anyway, see what you get for three grand.

3 notes:

1. Finally, an honest Tesla review!

2. Air-frying while camping? SIGN ME UP!

3. This seems like a pretty half-baked product that was rushed to meet a production deadline. Manual pump for THREE THOUSAND DOLLARS!? Rofl! My buddy designed one of the original trunk tent products on the market many decades ago & it's LIGHTYEARS better than this lol. Not only that, but now you can get stuff with gas struts & a hardtop for like $1,300. China is going to have a field day with Cybertruck tents lol:

IF ONLY THERE WAS AN OUTLET AVAILABLE TO USE AN ELECTRIC PUMP!!

$3,000:

$3,000:

You can get a whole inflatable tiny house tent for $3k lol:

Your first note is really spot on. They aren't an automotive channel and while there is some overlap on their channel it's not much.

I admit I'm a subscriber and I watch their videos so I knew right away when Kara opened the frunk and said the reason there is nothing in there is because they forget about it I was like yep this is going to be an honest review from two people who aren't car people and that's exactly what it is.

I can relate to that to. I've put around 7,500 miles(12,000 km)on my Mach-E and have used the frunk twice. Anyway, I thought it was kind of a cool YT video showing a non car persons perspective and yeah the bed tent or Basecamp for the CT is an overpriced joke.

This is the issue I have with EVs in general, they really don't design them with serviceability in mind at all. Is this really better for the environment or for the wallet? Most gas cars can be kept on the road for decades and most things are serviceable. Although even with gas cars and all the fancy electronics, they are getting worse in that respect. These are going to be going to the scrap yard in maybe 20 years. The embodied energy that went into making it, not to mention the money to pay for it initially, will never be made up by the time it's scrap. At the prices they're asking for these things they should be fully modular and designed to last more or less a life time.

Yes, it would take two trips by that bicycle. Better spend the USD100+k for the CT.
I mean it's helpful to me! All this time people are saying "but we need these huge trucks in the US, you just don't understand" when actually they just wanted to make the one bike journey rather than the two!

how about the part of never putting a dime in that racist sack of shit's pockets?
As far as the vehicle, I see no point in a back seat I would not be comfortable in. Just give it up, delete it and it becomes somewhat more useful.

I think this is becoming more common with vehicles. Look at this estimate for a 2017 Range Rover with 82k miles and the engine won't start, $36k.
