So peasants get only half the GPU of the nobles' Strix Point!

Honestly Kraken feels more like an heir to the 5600/5700g than a PHX heir.
It's not about gaming on an APU, it's about sort of kind of being able to game on an APU. The lowest cost still gaming capable ish system, if you're ok with regularly dropping to low settings, 720p and/or 30 fps.

I feel the best of both worlds would be a Kraken with 6 RDNA 3.5 WGPs, that would go hard in terms of PHX replacement. But it won't happen unless someone (Valve?) cuts down STX PT to 12 CUs and less CPU cores or we wait for Zen 6 to pull something nice out along with better uncore power draw.

Van Gogh is already 8 CU though, so it would have to be a major clock boost which is unlikely to come economically to power.

The Deck has been popular enough to warrant another semi custom chip.

We might just see a 12 CU RDNA4 design.
Yeah, an ideal Steam Deck 2 SoC would be four Zen5c with 12 RDNA4 CUs that also clock higher than Van Gogh. May need to wait for faster memory to be more mainstream though.

I wonder what kind of power envelope we should expect for Strix Halo.
16 Zen 5 cores and ~20 WGPs?
If N48 alone is 30 WGPs and runs around 215W, that's at least a 150W envelope even if you clock somewhat low.

A graphic card has power hungry GDDR6; if clocked lower STH shouldnt be above 100W including the CPU drive.

I thought Halo has 120W TDP? If it behaves like other Laptop CPUs this is more of a lower baseline, with more like open end power draw available for OEMs.

With 10% lower clocks for the GPU it shouldnt exceed said 120W, and that would be at 100% GPU throughput, in practice it shoulkd be around 100W, possibly more if OEMs want to crank up the perfs but that s another matter.

That contradict your saying that X3D chips are second rate, the first manufactured dies are not forcible the most performing frequency wise, beside they launched servers parts first because that s a much more profitable market.
Nothing I said contradicts anything else I've said. Just because the dice that make it to desktop are "second rate" doesn't make them bad. They just don't test as well for EPYC. That's it. And you know this is true, and has been true for every generation of Zen except Pinnacle Ridge.

2500 ST score for Strix Halo in CB R23, which is ~20% better than the 7950X… meanwhile the MT score is ~11% better. Hmm. Strix Point iGPU clock is kinda lackluster given that PHXs iGPU already can do 2700 MHz but the TS score is alright at ~25% higher. I wish it had higher clocks to give a 50% uplift though.

He's been reading the same forum posts as the rest of us since 2017 (and before then too), that's how.
Remember when the Stilts got mad and quit?
Remember when Zen 1 5Ghz ?
Remember when people thought Zen got the name from Suzzane?
Remember when Raja said "poor Volta"?
Remember when Crytek put a bunch of polygons under water and lied about the whole thing?
Remember when 3.5GB?
Remember when Nvidia had wooden screws?
Remember when AMD launched Hawaii on an aircraft carrier?
Remember when Charlie said Kepler > Tahiti?
Remember when a bunch of AMD executives took hundred of thousands pages of document before fleeing to Nvidia?
Remember when AMD stopped using automated process to design cpus?
Remember when AMD said Intel was using glue for Core 2 Duo?
Remember when Hector Ruiz ruined any future AMD might have had?
Remember when mr. leather jacket man wanted to be AMD CEO?
Remember when Intel said 10Ghz is on the horizon?

I've might have missed a few, and good god we need zen 5 news so badly

Edit: added some more
