Vintage computing has exploded over the past 5 years so maybe someone could buy these retest them to see if they work then resell them? That's the only thing I can think of but if the entire lot is only $40 there probably isn't even some money to be made doing that.

I know it says "For parts or not working" in the item description but just easier on the seller so they don't have to worry about returns for non functioning cards. Chances are good that most of these still work.

Vintage computing is kind of a strange concept. Usually something "vintage" is objectively different than the modern method, but vintage computers are exactly like modern computers, just worse in pretty much every way.

You're not wrong. Honestly I got into it years before prices started spiking and the reason why was nostalgia. I wanted to recreate a tiny piece of my childhood not only for me but also for my sons so they could see how dad used to play.

When I was a kid my dad set up his Revell slot car track from his childhood so we could enjoy it. He got to experience that childhood joy again but in a different way because it was with me and my siblings.

Anyway, it's hard to put into words but I guess I did the same thing my dad did but with a couple 486 computers instead of a slot car track. It was great and every once and awhile my kids ask me when will I get the old computers back out. Just like with my dad I hope it's an experience they remember for the rest of their lives.

I assume these are just untested, not necessarily broken. You get at least 5-10 in there that work, and at that price that's actually kind of worth it for someone doing a vintage build. I sometimes think it would be cool to build a win95 or 98 machine for nostalgia sake but then I start to remember how much of a pain it was trying to find drivers back in those days, I don't know if I actually want to relive that.
