Isn't GB5 deprecated?
It still works and WILL work in emulation mode.

No WoA native binary yet but now ARM CPUs may score higher in GB 6.3:

For systems without SME instructions, Geekbench 6.3 CPU Benchmark scores are comparable with Geekbench 6.1 and Geekbench 6.2 scores. Systems with SME instructions enabled will score higher in Geekbench 6.3 than in earlier Geekbench versions..

Doing just that and nothing else will still be expensive because the bigger cache may reduce yields. Even a microscopic defect in the cache die may cause it to be rejected during QA/QC. And an intact cache that large would still have higher latency than the smaller one it will be replacing. They need something like IBM's virtual cache implementation: https://www.anandtech.com/show/16924/did-ibm-just-preview-the-future-of-caches
But is extra cache really going to help?
For example, despite the added V-cache, AMD's X3D parts are slightly slower than the non-X3D parts, in ST benchmarks.

Are you telling me that Geekbench 6 in WoA is running via the x86 emulator?

benchmarks.

Geekbench 6.2 features the following changes:

Windows on ARM support – Geekbench 6.2 introduces Windows on ARM support. Now, users of ARM-based Windows devices, such as the Lenovo ThinkPad X13s and the Microsoft Windows Dev Kit 2023, can use Geekbench 6 to benchmark and compare their system performance. Windows on ARM support is included as part of Geekbench 6 for Windows – no separate download is required.

WTH kind of promo video is this?

I though well of Hardware Canucks and I do get the need to do promo-videos in order to survive financially, but the timestamped part is where i lost it:

"Additionally with the Innovative dual boost technology 2 of those high-performance cores can surge to an impressive 4.2 Ghz" (from 3.8 Ghz)

I'm sorry, what year is it? Intel introduced turbo boost with Nehalem in 2008. And while it was still a bit conservative on Nehalem (266Mhz uplift vs 400Mhz on snapdragon) it was a a lot more agressive on Westmere introduced in January 2010 (650 -800 MHz Single-core boost on laptop parts) .

Adjectives like this should not come out from a youtube channel of a relatively respected HW outlet in 2024.

I was just watching this hahaha. Tech Media isn't very knowledgeable and can easily fall to marketing fluff.
Just 1.5 months before Snapdragon X Elite was introduced.
QCOM probably been working behind the scenes with ISVs to accelerate WoA native Arm software or Arm64EC support.

PCWorld interviewed Kedar Kondap

PS: It's been nice knowing all you guys. I will not be posting here anymore for the following months, as I intend to step away from the tech world and tech news. I hope you guys keep this thread alive. Keep the Snapdragon speculation and discussion flowing! adieu.

Farewell Flame. Hopefully you come back soon to discuss when devices are out in the wild. Until we meet again

I was going to pull the trigger on a brand new Asus Zenbook 14 OLED touchscreen with Intel Ultra 7 155H! The upcoming Snapdragon X Elite is even better performance then the Apple M3 MacBook Pro!😁🚀👍

I decided to wait now!

OOOOF I guess it's a good thing Flametail took a break:

This can be easily noticed by looking at the specs table, where the chips sharing the same die only differ in CPU and GPU specs, while the X1-P42-100 also sacrifices four PCIe 4.0 lanes and half of the video hardware.

Near doubling of package power from 80100 to 84100? I know it's a 400MHz bump, but that seems...excessive? Am I missing something?
They're riding the tail edge of their v/f.
Iirc they missed their IPC targets by quite some margin and had to push clocks.

The real bad part is the binning is very loose and they don't have real PPTs like Intel or AMD has.
Oh god, phone companies making real hardware. Pain.
