Yes, the US used Ukraine to conduct live field tests for the US for a completely new weapon system that hasn't even been deployed to US units. Now the US will use that data from live field tests against Russia to make the weapon system better. The US can thank the Russians for helping make US weapons systems better through field testing.

Yeah, it's basically free R&D in a real world environment.

Sanctions crimping Turkish trade with Russia. Turkey is also working on an LNG deal with Exxon to reduce their dependence on Russian gas. The relative weakness of Russia's influence with Turkey really becoming evident once again and that Erdogan mostly uses them to finagle better deals from the US/EU sphere where the actual stuff he wants is.

Lift =! ease

Still can't help yourself from contorting the news into something positive for your war criminals. Naturally. Sounds limited, but will be abused in some way I'm sure. I wonder what the thinking was on that. It's temporary at least, only in effect until Nov 1. Also covers uranium. I think someone is stocking up.

Probably not going to be a big deal.

IIRC Israel doesn't actually own all their Patriot batteries. Some are on long term loan from Germany and the US.

If said countries request their return now that the Israelis no longer use them they could potentially be delivered to Ukraine.

I hope the Biden admin can pressure Tel Aviv into selling us back the ones they do own, then they and the loaners can be sent to Ukraine at some point hopefully. Let'em chill at Ramstein for awhile, get some updates. Seems a pittance after what we've been doing for Israel lately. Just part of the normal replacement process, now that they're hookin up 'David's Iron Arrow' right? Israeli considerations in Syria and with Iran should be largely unaffected, what with no direct assistance to Ukraine setting off Russian feels.

Bradleys have been very impressive the entire time.

A lot ink has been spilled over the years about the 25mm gun's inadequacy against armor but that's just mostly actual tanks not lightly armored Soviet AFVs which make up the bulk of Russian forces. Rips through those just fine. HE rounds also quite lethal for infantry. If tanks show up that's what the TOWs are for. They are probably the best in class on the field out there, certainly better than that stupid Terminator with its wet noodle barrels that can't hit the broad side of a barn at 100M.

M39 excellence at work on camera in Luhansk.
I hear a lot about 155mm production increases over the next couple of years.
I hear nothing if we are increasing ATACMS production. If it is even possible to meet demand there.
I rather wish that missile found a more expensive target than just pasting a bunch of meat that Russia had every intention of getting pasted anyway.

Speaking of Bradley’s, looks like they’re making their way to Moscow, just not in a way you guys would have hoped!

Your hard earned tax dollars on display in Moscow for the locals.

Just remember, I told you guys months ago the Russians would have these tanks rolling down their annual ‘Victory Day’ parade in a few weeks.

Turns out, they didn’t even want to wait for that to showcase their new trophies.

Enjoy the 30 year old IFVs while we comb through your latest gear and make fun of it.

It is frankly hilarious how proud Russia is of capturing outdated US equipment. Ukraine was proud of displaying captured and destroyed Russian tanks but that makes sense. The US wouldn’t give a shit because we do not consider destroying Soviet garbage to be notable. (And man have we destroyed a lot of it)

Equipment inevitably gets lost in war, although when we do lose it US equipment has the advantage of rarely turning the crew into involuntary cosmonauts unlike Russian vehicles.

Also the US has no interest in capturing Moscow because then we would have to administer the shithole that is Russia. How do you not understand that you have nothing we want?

ATACMS is being replaced by PRsM which has substantially longer range and more rounds per pod (2 up from 1). The ATACMS line is still open for foreign military sales but at a low rate. The US still has thousands of ATACMS in inventory however about 1/3rd of them are at or past end of life and there are no plans to extend service life because of the new system. Extended range GMLRS is also in production now which further makes much of these stocks irrelevant for US war plans. It's quite probable we will deliver hundreds of these expired units to Ukraine.

Does that mean Poland gets launch control?
Because if not, it won't mean a heck of a lot when Putin comes knocking.
We have seen how nations "defend" one another.
Uhm. So Russia come knocking on the front door and you're hosting nukes in the backyard. Suppose you're the owner of said nukes you've got a couple of choices.

1. Risk handing them over the the Russians
2. Rush collect your nukes and bounce before Russia gets close
3. Make sure it never comes to that.

I assume that's the line of thinking - beyond faster response times in case of MAD.

If the US pulled their nukes out of Europe the Poles would probably be the first country to launch a crash bomb program.
