When I first heard that story I thought back to Mitt Romney and all the crap he got for putting the family dog in a dog crate on the roof rack of the family station wagon because the car was too full. Nothing happened to his dog, He probably had no intention of cruelty (it was probably a bad choice he didn't really think through) but back in the simpler days pre-MAGA that incident probably contributed to his defeat.

Whereas Noem sees nothing wrong, even brags about what she did in her book. Wow.

An interesting take on the story, basically get your version of the story out first.

But South Dakota Democratic Senate Minority Leader Reynold Nesiba considered the disclosure more calculated than stupid. He said the story has circulated for years among lawmakers that Noem killed a dog in a “fit of anger” and that there were witnesses. He speculated that it was coming out now because Noem is being vetted as a candidate for vice president.
“She knew that this was a political vulnerability, and she needed to put it out there, before it came up in some other venue,” he said. “Why else would she write about it?”

But political ploy or not, Fuck that bitch. Seriously. She didn't make the "hard" decision. She made the cruel and convenient one.

“I’m not sure which thing she did was stupider: The fact that she murdered the dog, or the fact that she was stupid enough to publish it in a book,” said Joan Payton, of the German Wirehaired Pointer Club of America. The club itself described the breed as “high-energy,” and said Noem was too impatient and her use of a shock collar for training was botched.
“That was a puppy that had no experience, obviously no training,” she said. “If you know a minuscule amount about a bird dog, you don’t take a 14 month old out with trained adult dogs and expect them to perform. That’s not how it works.”

It's funny this is a "far left" website when the positions of the vast majority of the people here would be straight up in the center if not center-right in most developed countries.

Though I rarely post such here, I'm about as dead center as you can get. I flat out despise the Orange Guy and the damage he's done to the country, but even I can see a few (very few, too few to recall here and now) things he's done that I can agree with.

And I'll repeat that this dog thing is among the least significant things Noem has done. But it's the one that strikes up the most emotion.

No antisemitism that I've seen. There are two or three that don't care for people of color, though none of them say anything overtly racist. Even those few dislike democrats far more than blacks.
