Question Raptor Lake - Official Thread

Agreed, except thats a Zen 3 Threadripper Pro, not Zen 4. In any case that’s what I want, but I’m not willing to pay above Threadripper prices. Those were already high enough. If Intel can give me 32 Raptor Cove cores at a reasonable price with near 13900K single core performance, I’ll buy my...

Question Raptor Lake - Official Thread

Threadripper is discontinued. Zen 3 Threadripper Pro is $4k for 32 cores, is not HEDT, but workstation, a different segment. There are no rumors of a 96 core Threadripper Pro either. Intel certainly had nothing to offer for 1 socket that competes with 96 core Genoa, but I’m talking about CPUs...

Prediction for next internet points, now that I won my 13900K 15% faster than 5800X 3D with non-potato ddr5 and no gpu bottlenecks (Mark and others, I expect my points by noon): Intel counters 7950X 3D with 32 core raptor cove only HEDT Raptor Lake - S at $1,500, 24 core at 1,000 and 13900KS at...

Agreed, as long as ArrowLake follows as closely as speculated. I doubt Raptor Lake will do well against Zen 5 in 2024.

Discussion Speculation: Zen 4 (EPYC 4 "Genoa", Ryzen 7000, etc.)

The best test of stability is to leave your PC on for a few weeks. It took me a few months to find stable CO values. Now my 5950x is stable with most cores at -25 to -30, but a few as low as -15. No crashes in 6 months, including a 2 month always on stretch.

Who cares if they hit 6ghz for a nanosecond? The effective clock is a more accurate representation of the cpu’s behavior. For reference: https://www.hwinfo.com/forum/threads/effective-clock-vs-instant-discrete-clock.5958/ “This new method has been tested on several CPUs and has shown to...

Effective clock is 5.8Ghz, not 6. Still very nice.

Question Raptor Lake - Official Thread

Intel has stated there will be desktop Meteor Lake bins, whats uncertain is whether there will be high end Meteor Lake desktop parts. For Intel’s sake that would be good, though I’m not optimistic given the talk of clock speed regressions and that the largest leaked part is 6P+8E.

Question Raptor Lake - Official Thread

That 105 W TDP means PPT = 142W, and represents the maximum sustained (indefinite) draw. AMDs TDP means nothing, the CPU will draw up to the socket limit indefinitely, which is 142W. Thats the stock behavior. Stock for 13900K is 125W PL1, but like AMD will indefinitely draw their socket limit...

Stop what? I asked why Mark thought 13900K would vastly underperform in PPW compared to 7950X, the topic of this thread, and provided the rumoured PPT/TDP’s for AMD and Intel’s top parts to give context for my question. This was on topic at least as much as his comment. He responded with a...

Rumors put 13900K at 250W PPT/PL2. Are you calling me a troll? If so, I guess I should report you, to you. Control yourself. Apparently you didn't believe my warning about sticking to the topic esquared Anandtech Forum Director

Discussion Speculation: Zen 4 (EPYC 4 "Genoa", Ryzen 7000, etc.)

They have nearly identical PPT (13900K 250W, 7950X 230) and 7950X has 50W higher TDP (though that is just a paper spec, under load both will hit their PPT), what are you referring to?

Question Raptor Lake - Official Thread

13900K seems pretty good then. 60% bump on 12900K will probably make it competitive with 7950x (35% bump prior expectation over 5950X), though slower, especially if decompression can make use of AVX512.

Question Raptor Lake - Official Thread

Should I be looking at the 171GIPS number or the 231, or the average, 201? On the 12900K all of those numbers are ~145. If it's the 231, it's 15% faster than 5950x, if 201, it's even.

Question Raptor Lake - Official Thread

Yeah but if you consider that e cores matter and matter is mc^2, Raptor Lake must contain the power of the Sun, which is tough to cool. That concerns me. Better wait for reviews but Intel is [redacted]. Profanity is not allowed in the tech forums. AT Mod Usandthem

My 2 interests are multiple high end GPUs for data science tasks, and very high speed ssd’s for some specific database stuff. Im not sure if either upcoming consumer solutions gets me there, although maybe pci5 for GPU isnt so important when using nvlink (assuming 4090 supports that)
