    It was supposed to offer some of the most advanced AI programming ever seen in a video game. I think that tech got cut to push out a faster release (not a statement of fact, this is my opinion based on what I've seen and read).

    Does GoG automatically update games? I don't think they do, but I could be wrong. This is why I stick with Steam....I like the fact that the games are automatically the latest release version and I don't have to worry about that stuff.

    @Fanatical Meat gave you the best answer but I would just add that the definition of "game" can be different depending on your perspective. Marketing teams have looser definitions of "game" than consumers, especially in this case.

    It's a buggy, beautiful tech demo right now. There are some basic gameplay loops (combat, mining, cargo) and if you're into a steep learning curve and ok with bugs and broken things, you can spend a lot of time with it. And some people are doing that....and enjoying it....right now.
