Its generally considered to be a good practice, in case things are possibly subject to change and you are aware of that, to not present them as facts. If Lisa Su said pricing would be this and that 6 months before release without using language that would signal possibility of change, and then...
No launch happened.
Why? Does it upset you to be called on your own BS? No need to be upset.
Its still made out of silicon, its not some revolutionary technology. Does not warrant your hype, and my Zen4/4090 desktop is still gonna be superior choice for gaming or my line of work using GPU...
Talking about desktop parts, you claimed April, did not happen. You claimed 8xxx naming, its gonna be 9xxx. Wrong on both occasions - but yeah, there was no alternative. Except it was, as we can see.
Nice try deflecting with Strix.
When out of arguments, just inform other party they dont get...
You were insisting on those, leaving no room for alternative. Did not exactly make it look like anything can be different, than you said it would be. But it was. And now you were wrong, out of blue they dont matter anymore.
Its just fastest APU and everyone in need of proper discrete GPU...
Whats funny is your know-it-all attitude here, when you were already wrong on release date and naming scheme.
I dont care for Halo Strix and there is nothing to be found out at CES25 about it, that would change my mind about it. Pretty sure i wont trash my desktop for your "coolest" new part.
Why? Have Intel products been erased from existence?
Not everyone building DYI PC is PCMR. Most people are on budget, you know. I would presume AMD would prefer to sell more Zen 5 CPUs, than PS5s, if given the option.
Its just CPU + GPU. We had APUs for more than decade. Its gonna be latest...
OFC they have a choice. They can buy Intel, console, play on a phone or find another hobby.
What is cool product to you, is not cool for everyone. I could not care less about Halo Strix for example.
I feel vindicated regarding Zen5 9000 naming scheme, cause not so long ago i was told here its gonna be 8000, cause AMDs new naming scheme and whatnot :p
EDIT:

The limitation is certainly not big enough to make up for the RTG claims of 3000 points CB score. While i would want those higher numbers to be true, i am more inclined to believe these lower, less dramatic ones.
But apparently there will be no competition, so you will indeed pay arm and leg for it, and will actually run to do so and do so happily, cause 40 percent SPECINT perf increase is so good i guess, that you will never need faster computer after this.
Gospel of Adroc 16:12-14
:-D
If Strix Halo does presumably make 45k in CB23 MT, as per this latest leak, can we expect desktop 9950x do more than that? Cause of higher TDP and whatnot? If yes, how much do you reckon?
What does 55W-125W means, which one is it then? Or is the higher figure including the GPU part?
I have the 64GB G-Skill 6000MHz kit running at that speed, did not tweak it any further. Timings are 30:40:40:96. I guess better/faster RAM is one possibility i did not think about, but you say HUB used the same as mine. Cooling is Arctic Freezer 420, could not really do better than that i...
To be fair, their 2052 is bit on the low side, but on other hand i have no clue how HW Unboxed scored 2187. Just ran the test myself, 10 minute one, and my score is 2099. When i ran the CPU slightly OC´ed for a while to 5,212 avg all core frequency (but then dropped the OC cause of occasional...
In universe, where most people are not computer enthusiasts like us buying the latest stuff just for the sake of it (within certain budget or not).
I am pretty sure random person not interested in computer hardware, would upon week of using computer with Zen4 and Zen5 for tasks random...
I think you are overestimating most people’s willingness to spend money on something as non-essential to life as faster CPU.
You can bet, if 8 core Zen5 is 40 percent faster than Zen4 (and subsequently say 20 percent faster than 7800x3D in gaming), and its priced at 500+, utter majority of...
I presume those TPU perf charts are based off games. Those are not exactly good measuring tool of pure performance, too many other factors affecting those. Compute apps are. In something like Octane Render Titan X scores about 120 points. 4090 scores 1200, while having double VRAM (which is as...
Nobody, who benefits that much from faster CPU for work that he does not care about money, is going to buy 9950x over Threadripper. Its people on budget who are going to buy that CPU for work, exactly because they cant justify shelling 1500 minimum for TR. So no, most of these people would not...
Thanks. I just did not know if its possible to offload whatever that NPU is supposed to be computing to the GPU, or the hardware for it has to be part of the CPU. I mean, whether asking this to be ran on GPU would not be akin to running windows itself on GPU.
Yes, i had 980x gulftown at one point. Not sure what you mean with this, its not really comparable. That was Extreme Edition CPU and you could not really buy anything better. I am not sure there were even server CPUs with more cores back then, 8 maybe? I dont remember. Anyway, nothing extreme...
Haha, yes. Give the man his money :-D
Seriously though, they cant really do that IMO, as there is nothing about the product to market to justify the price increase. I mean, no additional cores, higher frequency, bigger cash, more RAM channels, whatever else they could possibly hang on to. And...
They did, when they increased core count from initial 16. And then again later, with the WX line-up, which however was marketed as separate, sort of superior tier. As it the case again now with TRs 7000s. Either way, its not comparable situation.
Anything can happen, but 1000 seems very...
Tell me the CAD performance, thats what i care about. Viewport performance on AutoCAD is everything but fluent on 7950x - on drawings with lot of blocks and whatnot. In that regard not much changed compared to my previous Intel Skylake-X cpu.
They wont, like they did not with 7950x and as result AMD had to drop its price by 100 off like 2 months later. I shall know, i had to cancel my order to and re-order it back for that discounted price :)
I believe your performance predictions, but no way AMD is bumping price to successor of a...
But thats not really the "default" solution or better said, what people have in mind when they think ATX, is it?. Adroc says that ATX is not going anywhere, cause the market is adverse to change, and at the same time desktop CPUs are being thing of past - if thats not a massive change right...
