Yup I think it's pretty clear that Ada's caches allow it to get away with way lower Vram bandwidth than RDNA3 can.. But I sure don't know how one realistically gets 12gb N32 without cutting an MCD 😉

So since you do use Computerbase as a reference .. Where's this 7800XT that performs like a 4070 at 4070 power draw again? Because AMD more or less made a 12GB 7800XT in the 7700XT and that sure ain't it..

260-270w power consumption is pretty poor for N32 when N21/6800XT on last gen process is similar performing at 300-310w, and the original RTX 3080, an arguably faster card if including RT, is c. 330-340w and was criticized for power consumption at launch. 20-25% better efficiency than a gpu...

That case requires an ITX board which in itself is a significant premium especially outside US.. Take it from experience building a SFF PC, there are a vanishingly small set of MATX SFF cases which fit 3-fan GPUs...

Did you look at the graph and actually understood what I said? The RTX 3070, a Nvidia Ampere SKU is definitely holding its own in efficiency against the 7700XT, an AMD RNDA3 SKU, if you disagree with the results here then take it up with Computerbase, because that's what their testing is showing.

Very far out the efficiency curve it seems: Forget the Ada series, if a year ago anyone on this forum even dare speculate that any RDNA 3 SKU would have worse efficiency than a Nvidia Ampere SKU they would have gotten laughed at/banned, yet here we are...

Discussion [WCCFTech] What’s Up With The Missing NVIDIA DLSS Support In AMD Sponsored FSR Titles?

HWUB was talking about the DLSS 3 implementation (it doesn't help that native framerates are trash) when my link was on the DLSS 2 implementation available on Day 1. Mods which don't work and/or aren't desired do not get 228k downloads within 4 days of launch...

Ah, MLID, who has such a great track record that he's deleted many old videos in which he was proven egregiously wrong in hindsight. Idk whether the Digital Foundry journalist has great sources, but MLID indirectly denying it only makes those sources more credible..

And yet... Your response to a day 1 DLSS mod was assuming that the modder must have had access to the game before release, so which is it? Either: - Day 1 DLSS mere hours after release means it realliy isn't that hard to implement, or; - if DLSS implementation isn't so low effort, then said...

Starfield literally released today (heck anyone without the premium versions can't play it yet) and there's already a free mod adding DLSS/XESS integration here, so unless modders have time machines it indeed is something that can be done in a matter of hours..

My guess is that, given the long lead time between the backlash and this statement (c. 5 weeks), that the agreement (c. mid July) did have some type of exclusivity clause, which was revised when AMD realized that this was a bad look for them and Bethesda to have these clauses, which would...

It better be more efficient running at 2.15ghz tested as opposed to 2.3ghz for 6950xt and 2.4ghz for 7900XT, something it can do given it has plenty of chip being cut down from N31. N32 is going to have 75% of the CUs and half (?) the ROPs so it's going to need to clock significantly faster (I...

To say that AMD is blameless in this would be untrue, when they have had a track record of saying statements that blew up in their faces. It's been 8 months since RDNA3 first launched and with N31, N33, and Phoenix have all been remarkably disappointing offerings on the graphics side. We've had this debate before in this thread , if AMD believed there is significantly untapped market potential for a big APU, they would have pushed it out already. If it doesn't make sense to service that performance tier at acceptable margins to AMD? That's funny, I don't recall FSR being supported on any Nvidia card older than Pascal and RTX cards launched with Turing right after. So the list of Nvidia owners that benefit from FSR but not DLSS is basically Pascal and the GTX Turing models. But sure, let's pretend that FSR supports "all"...

If you're trying to argue that the R&D costs for AMD wouldn't change much even without N33 in the mix... I am not sure that's a valid argument as without N33, AMD wouldn't need to backport RDNA3 to N6, nor would they have to make monolithic RDNa3. All of which are costs borne solely from having...

Its not a question that we can test empirically (no way to significantly downclock N31 memory or disable ROPs). But logically speaking, if AMD believed N21-esque memory/ROPs was fine for N31 performance levels to begin with (and they 99% would have simulated this config), then we'd see N31...

Well, the RDNA3 architectural changes (namely dual FP32 and higher clocks) were supposed to be substantial by themselves. As it is now dual FP32 doesn't seem to do anything and without a significant process advantage it doesn't even seem to clock much higher on desktop than RDNA2 can.

It is much better than 6650XT that's for sure... But also given how in this benchmark it's still decently slower than the 6700xt in similar proportion to the raster difference I am more inclined to believe something weird happened with the 6650XT there more than that there are dramatic...
