  1. Discussion Zen 5 Speculation (EPYC Turin and Strix Point/Granite Ridge - Ryzen 9000)

Paper launch by the end of H2-2024. That's what it means. Their track record speaks for itself.

    Uh...from the source @mikk linked:
  3. Discussion Zen 5 Speculation (EPYC Turin and Strix Point/Granite Ridge - Ryzen 9000)

@mikk provided the source. Now please come up with an excuse, like you always do. First rule of fight club/CPU forum is attack the post not the poster. You just keep doing it anyways. Enjoy your vacation. Mod DAPUNISHER
  4. Discussion Zen 5 Speculation (EPYC Turin and Strix Point/Granite Ridge - Ryzen 9000)

Welp. That's strike two for our Ukrainian "leaker".
  5. Discussion Zen 5 Speculation (EPYC Turin and Strix Point/Granite Ridge - Ryzen 9000)

The rate at which you're going, Zen 5 IPC might as well depend on the a multitude of likely factors - ranging from who is likely to be the next POTUS, what happens to crude oil prices due to the middle-east situation, whether an earthquake strikes Taiwan on the day of Computex, if something more...
  6. Discussion Zen 5 Speculation (EPYC Turin and Strix Point/Granite Ridge - Ryzen 9000)

@DisEnchantment reported his score with 6000 MT/s memory. So that is what we will use.
  7. Discussion Zen 5 Speculation (EPYC Turin and Strix Point/Granite Ridge - Ryzen 9000)

Not at 6000 MT/s memory: EDIT: vs Raptor Cove.

Yes - you would know if you follow Formula 1.
  10. Discussion Zen 5 Speculation (EPYC Turin and Strix Point/Granite Ridge - Ryzen 9000)

Still waiting for an explanation why one score in the morning completely invalidates the other score in the afternoon, on the same day. "SF-23 will be unprecedented in terms of speed" - Ferrari CEO before the 2023 F1 season started.
  11. Discussion Zen 5 Speculation (EPYC Turin and Strix Point/Granite Ridge - Ryzen 9000)

Why is one valid while the other isn't? How convenient that the "invalid" result is the one where it is massively underperforming expectations.
  12. Discussion Zen 5 Speculation (EPYC Turin and Strix Point/Granite Ridge - Ryzen 9000)

FWIW, both these ES and my TGL laptop are running kernel 6.8
  13. Discussion Zen 5 Speculation (EPYC Turin and Strix Point/Granite Ridge - Ryzen 9000)

No, timestamps of when the results were uploaded online.
  14. Discussion Zen 5 Speculation (EPYC Turin and Strix Point/Granite Ridge - Ryzen 9000)

The simpler explanation is that the score in the morning is while running a hypervisor, and the score in the afternoon is running without hypervisor.
  15. Discussion Zen 5 Speculation (EPYC Turin and Strix Point/Granite Ridge - Ryzen 9000)

You have to set both an upper and lower frequency with -u and -d.
  16. Discussion Zen 5 Speculation (EPYC Turin and Strix Point/Granite Ridge - Ryzen 9000)

The *timestamps* are there on the entries
  17. Discussion Zen 5 Speculation (EPYC Turin and Strix Point/Granite Ridge - Ryzen 9000)

I can literally see the timestamp on the entries. It's about time to pull the curtain on your make-believe.
  18. Discussion Zen 5 Speculation (EPYC Turin and Strix Point/Granite Ridge - Ryzen 9000)

Yeah, right... The first one is in the morning, and the second one is in the afternoon.
  19. Discussion Zen 5 Speculation (EPYC Turin and Strix Point/Granite Ridge - Ryzen 9000)

...and 12 percent higher IPC than Golden Cove at 2000 MHz, according to @gdansk posted score.
  20. Discussion Zen 5 Speculation (EPYC Turin and Strix Point/Granite Ridge - Ryzen 9000)

Lots of Linux users here - just test Zen 4@2000 MHz and report.
  21. Discussion Zen 5 Speculation (EPYC Turin and Strix Point/Granite Ridge - Ryzen 9000)

Where? It doesn't show up under your username: https://browser.geekbench.com/user/gdansk
  22. Discussion Zen 5 Speculation (EPYC Turin and Strix Point/Granite Ridge - Ryzen 9000)

Here ya go for version 5.4.6 https://browser.geekbench.com/v5/cpu/22424990
  23. Discussion Zen 5 Speculation (EPYC Turin and Strix Point/Granite Ridge - Ryzen 9000)

Do you have the linux tarball for version 5.4.6?
  24. Discussion Zen 5 Speculation (EPYC Turin and Strix Point/Granite Ridge - Ryzen 9000)

If this turns out to be true, then maybe AMD mixed up their big cat species names when it came to their internal targets for Zen 5.
  25. Discussion Zen 5 Speculation (EPYC Turin and Strix Point/Granite Ridge - Ryzen 9000)

Yes it does: And I am talking about the interger score specifically.
  26. Discussion Zen 5 Speculation (EPYC Turin and Strix Point/Granite Ridge - Ryzen 9000)

As usual, I return to see garbage analyses being posted and regurgitated for dozens of pages. These are the two results on Geekbench 5 so far: [1] [2] Now, anybody interested in what "Xen HVM domU" is could do a Google search to find out that it is the Xen hypervisor. Here's the thing -...
  27. Discussion Zen 5 Speculation (EPYC Turin and Strix Point/Granite Ridge - Ryzen 9000)

So use the individual scores, across each of SPECint and SPECfp, throw in the individual scores of Geekbench, add every benchmark that spits out a number that implies the higher the better, get the dataset size to acceptable standards for the analysis, and you will still find that what I showed...
  28. Discussion Zen 5 Speculation (EPYC Turin and Strix Point/Granite Ridge - Ryzen 9000)

This discussion has nothing to do with CPU architectures or benchmarks.
  29. Discussion Zen 5 Speculation (EPYC Turin and Strix Point/Granite Ridge - Ryzen 9000)

Correlation coefficient is NOT used for prediction. Correlation coefficient is used to accept or reject the null hypothesis. In this case, the p-value is roughly 0.025, which is less than 0.05 for 95% confidence interval. So you have to reject the null hypothesis.
  30. Discussion Zen 5 Speculation (EPYC Turin and Strix Point/Granite Ridge - Ryzen 9000)

Wow, somebody missed their basic statistics class in school. Instead of meandering with silly mafs you could have simply calculated the correlation coefficient. Here, I did it for ya - With 5.6% change it is 0.940594. With 7.8% change, it is 0.926675. Across the entire data set - for the...

Meh. People who care about such things should probably not update. It's quite funny seeing folk on the overclock.net forums upset about this cause according to them if you're buying a $700 CPU with a $700 motherboard, you're doing it wrong if you don't overclock.
  32. Question Low 1% FPS with 5800X

Which Corsair PSU, and how old is it?
  33. Discussion Zen 5 Speculation (EPYC Turin and Strix Point/Granite Ridge - Ryzen 9000)

Conclusion is that if the PPC improvement in SPECint is, for argument's sake, 10%, it is very unlikely that the PPC improvement in Cinebench wouldn't be in the same ballpark. Unless the CPU design is out-of-whack where it breaks the benchmark itself, 40% core-for-core improvement in SPECint...
  34. Discussion Zen 5 Speculation (EPYC Turin and Strix Point/Granite Ridge - Ryzen 9000)

Just because it has been measured doesn't mean that it sustained that frequency through the benchmark run. It is a moot point, because a benchmark usually takes orders of magnitude longer to run compared to the total time for which fMax is observed during that time.

3DPM is Ian's code optimised by an ex-Intel guy for AVX-512.

Enough of this imaginary differences between imagined benchmark numbers - this sequence of Twitter posts is actually quite interesting:
