Giving nvidia serious consideration

I'm going to Nvidia next time I upgrade. You have to give up 1 core on your SMP to keep AMD card working. Nvidia doesn't have that issue. Maybe AMD will get that fixed sometime in future but it's a known issue.

Connector question

Well the 8 pin didn't split but there was enough room to get 1/2 of it on the mb's 4 pin connection. Machine working fine. Thanks for the help - don't think I'd be brave enough to do that without advice!

Connector question

When I get home I'll ck my psu with the 24 / 8 pin connectors and see if the 8 can be split into two. If not just slip half of it onto the mb's 4 pin connector? I agree with you - I thought it was strange to have a 24 pin psu w/o a 4 pin connector. Thanks for the help.

Power supply / motherboard connections

In the past my motherboards have had a 24 pin connector and a 4 pin. The power supply would have a 20 pin and a 4 pin. Easy to put together - the 20 pin only fit one way on the 24 motherboard and the 4 pin went to the 4 pin female. My new power supply has a 20 pin plus a 4 pin separate but...

ASUS AM2+ Motherboards - bios flash will turn existing AM2 into AM2+

Does anyone know when the AM2+ boards will be coming out? I guess not until they have cpu's they can test wtih.

Sounds that way to me. The news article I saw listed quite a few boards that were Bios upgradeable. It's funny that this hasn't been mentioned before. I always assumed a new mb.

Case fan - pull or push?

I'm building a pc for a friend. Of course the power supply has an exhaust fan. There is room in the front to add a 2nd fan. Should that be pulling in air (to create a positve pressure)? Or another exhaust fan (pulling out air)? My gut feeling says to pull air in but thought I'd check with...
