I'm sorry, been busy at work. Unable to resolve names to ip address unless there statically mapped in sophos is the main problem.

Working DNSMasq configuration file

Anyone have a working configuration file for DNSMasq? For some reason DNS never works correctly for me when I try setting it up. I'm really looking to get this working, as I've been using Sophos UTM and its DHCP and DNS settings are pretty basic.

Used i3/i5 Laptops for ~$250

What are some good, used i3/i5 (older generations) laptops you can find for around $250? Years ago we use to buy Dell Latitude D620s, because you could find them cheap and were built solid. I know on the desktop side you can always findoff-leased Dell Optiplexes, but I don't know what laptop...

A/V equipment where?

Just bought a new house, and i need suggestions for AV setup in the living room. Do I just throw a 5or6 shelf/tower off to the side and TV above the fireplace? Need some suggestions because I see no other options. Equipment includes av receiver, ps4, fire tv box, Comcast box, bookshelf...

Should I try a gyro today?

I thought gyro was in some category as burger, hot dog, etc; nothing out of the ordinary. Just grew up eating them in Chicagoland. Most gyro meat is mixed Lamb and beef if I recall correctly.

Recommendation for Linux friendly laptop

It's not much. Dell has the XPS Dev and M3800. Theres smaller companies like System76 that sell rebranded Clevo laptops(?). Yeah I know. I seen it on Slickdeals and thought about it as an option. Maybe I can find a used one for decent price... but then again it's a used Acer.. would worry me...

Recommendation for Linux friendly laptop

My x220 is starting to finally fall apart, so I'm looking for something else to run Fedora. The most intense work I do is a couple virtual boxes running to test/study. 12-14" Core i5+ 1080p Open to laptops a few years old.

Do you keep Windows around even though you have Linux?

Only time I use Windows is for learning. I work at a high school district where Windows is used on 98% of the computers/servers, so I have a virtual Windows environment for studying for my MCSA. That's the only thing/time I use Windows though.

Are there any free or cheap alternatives to PC Doctor diags that will test motherboard and other components? I don't think Hiren/UBCD contain software that tests those things. Thanks.

Setting up a VPN on vps or purchasing straight VPN service?

I have my own VPS for VPN. I use it when I'm connected to public networks, passing all traffic through it including DNS.

I'm really interested in what exactly you did LOL, but I say reinstall. Sure we could probably get it working, but then what else would you find configured incorrectly and how long will it take?? Black screen, boot flag, no grub, apt-get locked. Yea.. Just reinstall. What is your installation...

I don't qualify for USAA either. Unfortunately, Amica was one of the highest quotes I received. GEICO and a couple others are close to half of what Amica is asking. Thanks for the info though.

Detailing products

Paint is pretty decent on fiancés fusion and my Outlander. My outlander probably has the better paint condition overall but has more scratches. I don't want to spend much time/money on it right now. I'm thinking of letting this old guy I know do full detail (which he charges $120) until winter.

auto insurance.. how to pick

I don't qualify for USAA, no military background. I'm suppose to contact a broker tomorrow to shop rates. I've been looking at Progressive and GEICO as they have the lowest rates. I've never been in an accident, and I don't expect to put more than 7500 miles/year on the car.
