  1. 8GB VRAM not enough (and 10 / 12)

If that is afterburner, the single VRAM field provided is allocated not used. Red Dead does not require anywhere near that amount of VRAM. I doubt the actual usage is more than 6GB or so for the 1080 bench.
  2. Hogwarts Legacy

It's the future now, and the Nvidia tech showcase has been updated to maintain its relevance to benchmarks. Choking out even the most powerful GPUs with path tracing. Which while some rave about, just makes more areas too dark IMO. While providing nothing else I stop to notice. I dislike how...
  3. Discussion Handheld PC Gaming devices

I never buy anything from Asus NIB. I have been warning people off of them for well over a decade. The Claw continues to improve with updates, but the present pricing is way too much. Even if significantly cheaper, it will still have some QoL issues. Like the marshmallow bumpers, and first gen...
  4. Future of AMD's GPU business.

PC Gamer is owned by our Anandtech corpo overlords; Future. Considering the sus timing and content of the 14900KS review on our front page, along with this article from a sister site, I think AMD must not be spending enough ad revenue with Future. Or the competition is spending more. I didn't...
  5. AAA's Doom

I enjoy Act Man's style. His videos are entertaining, funny, and informative for my old damaged brain. He recently did a vid about why AAA games are getting worse. The OG Fallout creator talks about how when working on Outer Worlds; 10 lines of SUDO code would take 4 weeks to do according to the...
  6. Intel processors crashing Unreal engine games (and others)

This isn't a support thread. Start one if you need help. You are mucking this up to the point I don't know which thread I am reading.
  7. News Intel GPUs - Battlemage rumoured cancelled (again)

That's what made this quote so funny - I do think from reading YT comments, reddit, and forums, that many are ready to dump Nvidia if the right product shows up. Some will not buy AMD no matter what. Others are long time repeat Intel customers. There's an opportunity there. While I don't think...
  8. News Intel GPUs - Battlemage rumoured cancelled (again)

Few believed AMD would get back in the CPU game, but they did. Intel can do this. They just need a "good enough" product for many more gamers to adopt them. Nvidia has fostered a lot of ill will the last couple of years among PC gamers. Many are looking for a reason to dump them.
  9. AMD Ryzen 5000 Builders Thread

My workload is gaming. It's why I bought 3D. BCLK overclocking is FAFO territory IMO. The 3D is locked down for good reason. Degrading or breaking my CPU over inconsequential performance uplift ain't my bag.
  10. Intel processors crashing Unreal engine games (and others)

Intel only list up to 5600MT/s for the 14900KS so I presume that's what Gavin is using? https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/products/sku/237504/intel-core-i9-processor-14900ks-36m-cache-up-to-6-20-ghz/specifications.html Everything past that is XMP/overclocking I suppose.
  11. AMD Ryzen 5000 Builders Thread

One of my 5800X3D is solid at -25, the other at -20. The 5600X3D is also solid at -25. Using standard CL18 3600 kits. Hardest duty they pull is gaming and I'm stoked with the performance they provide there. As @Thunder 57 mentioned not much more to be had from them without risking stability...
  12. AAA's Doom

Take that stuff to PMs bruh. 🤣
  13. News Intel GPUs - Battlemage rumoured cancelled (again)

You have dry sense of humor. Took me a good bit to get familiar with your posting style so that it comes through the way it should. And of course you are not wrong. But it isn't that simple IMO. If PC gamers really want choice they have to be the change they want to see happen. Platitudes mean...
  14. What are you playing nowadays? Share yo' thoughts.

Still playing Hogwarts. The Batman influence on the game design emerged once I was properly into the game. At least the Arkham series are the games I think of for certain mechanics this and other games like Spiderman use. It's fun, and the combat is proving way more interesting than I...
  15. News Intel GPUs - Battlemage rumoured cancelled (again)

Who knows what would have been different. Perhaps IBM and Apple would have taken way more desktop and notebook market share and the ipad and iphone would not have happened when they did. Or even by Apple. Altering how this century has played out from a microprocessor standpoint. Maybe we would...
  16. AAA's Doom

Gaming will be fine. What happened in the 80s can't happen again. It has evolved, it's ubiquitous, so many devices can be gamed on. Hell, you can play on your refrigerator now LOLZ. AAA may hit the skids, and the number of titles dwindle greatly due to the outrageous development costs, but the...

Buildzoid posted the differences between his boards defaults and the Intel recommendations -
  21. Intel processors crashing Unreal engine games (and others)

Perhaps from their perspective it makes sense? Most of your sales are prebuilts where this isn't an issue for the vast majority of units. The platform is dead and getting massively outsold by the competition in retail already. Why waste time and energy on it when the new hotness will be...
  22. Question Think my motherboard is dying, does X670 support the 5000 series?

You cannot use your AM4 CPU in an AM5 board, it is 100% incompatible. It is even physically incompatible as the pins are on the board now like Intel. Things you can do before swapping boards. - Run CrystalDiskMark on all of the storage to make certain they are in good health. Check for...

He's done that already, referring everyone to HUB for now.
  25. 8GB VRAM not enough (and 10 / 12)

OP has not logged in for weeks, nevermind posted. The rest of your points are good ones. You guys decide. I'll take you and Igor as voting for this to stay active.
  26. 8GB VRAM not enough (and 10 / 12)

How's the weather in FantasyLand? :p Message board discussions that are not user to user help and info are driven by - I can't go to bed! Someone on the internet is wrong! Besides, we are not there yet. If this thread is doing it for you? Cool I guess.
  27. AAA's Doom

Good stuff. Thanks for taking the time to write about it in detail. Anecdotally, my gen Z son and his friends don't play AAA. It is mostly AA or indy stuff. He is obsessed with Manor Lords at the moment. That is like one dude that made it right? I think the younger generation is turning away...
  28. 8GB VRAM not enough (and 10 / 12)

I'd suggest making it about just that game, and that game only. It would greatly limit the amount of spamming of nonsense allowed before warnings and infractions start. If any of you think this thread should continue even if the OP does not update it soon, now's the time to say so.
  29. Intel processors crashing Unreal engine games (and others)

How much more do we need? 😵‍💫 Every PC reviewer, website, and forum and their social media accounts all have content about it. GN has not jumped on it feet first like Bruce Lee, only because they have been investigating the EK disaster. I am certain with this still being a circus they will have...
  30. 8GB VRAM not enough (and 10 / 12)

OP is MIA. If they do not return soon I'll recommend this one get locked up. I was aghast when someone pointed out how old this thread is. It's been going for almost 3 years. A consensus has been reached, and reviewers have covered the VRAM issues more than enough for anyone not in the know...
  31. Intel processors crashing Unreal engine games (and others)

Gigabyte already pulled the bios. HardwareLUXX said it was using AC/DC LL of 1.7 mOhm instead of the recommended 1.1 mOhm. This is a press release so I am not convinced this is Intel's final answer. Probably just sweating bullets Steve or another reviewer will use that 188W PL2 in their next...

  37. 8GB VRAM not enough (and 10 / 12)

We can't let the RX 7600 off the hook. The cheapest model is $250 at newegg with the rest costing more. AMD just follows whatever Nvidia does only a little cheaper with no leather interior or sunroof. :p I am stoked he keeps fighting the battle here though. It is going to be entertaining to...
  38. Intel processors crashing Unreal engine games (and others)

You don't need any disclaimers, that's all any of us can do is speculate. And judging by those Reuters reports, Intel is almost Nintendo tier in court kung fu.
  39. Intel processors crashing Unreal engine games (and others)

I think the reports of continued stability issues is only with CPUs already affected. Not all of them. Igor as I recall was saying the ones that crash are broken.
