I still consider the Allman Brothers band at Fillmore East to be the greatest live album of all time, and Stevie Ray Vaughn to be the best blues guitarist ever. Punk explains it. The only band I ever liked that might fall under the punk heading is the Fugs.
It's possible that I saw Ms. Jet live at some point, but I don't recall the event. A small group of us used to go to the Winter Land in San Francisco frequently. Saw a lot of bands, many left very little impression, often depending on whatever drugs we happened to be using at the time.
One of my clearest memory's from that period was Carlos Santana performing the most incredible base guitar solo I've heard. LSD might have played a roll in my impression of the performance.

I'd be more annoyed about it in this thread if it showed some promise of going somewhere but evidently no-one has any opinion about what I wrote in the OP Therefore I don't think Challenger can claim credit for de-railing this thread. In that particular case of trolling, I already had him on my ignore list, and when I finally read his second post in this thread first, I knew that there wasn't any point in asking WTF he was on about with his first point.

IMO so as to give the appearance to outsiders that dumb shit isn't tolerated (in the sense that an outsider thinking of joining the forum doesn't read say bigoted comments and think, "so people don't mind that around here?", thus giving a bad impression to actually interesting would-be members), I keep my put-down responses to trolls brief. Crikey, Have to say that's genuinely new information for me. I think I vaguely heard somewhere that there were black cowboys, but didn't know it was anything like as common as 1 in 4. They really have been erased in popular culture (Blazing Saddles, weirdly, being one of the only exceptions).

There really was scope for a lot more diversity in the depiction of cowboys in movies.

The flip side is that we need to be vigilant in calling out racist shit-headed behavior when it rears its ugly head. There is no tolerance for being scum.

As far as cultural appropriation goes. I detest that term. Unless someone of another race is trying to claim something as their own, actual cultural appropriation rarely happens. I remember a case a few years back where a teen girl in the US wore a qipao or cheongsam, which is a Chinese dress. She wasn't trying to claim it as a western dress. She just liked the way it looked. The Internet, being what it is, had faux outrage over it and accused her of cultural appropriation. Funny enough, no one I know of who is Chinese had an issue with her wearing it.

I'm a firm believer in exchanging ideas. If someone likes a traditional Chinese dress, then by all means, wear it. As long as you're not claiming it as your own, I don't give a damn. And that also means I couldn't care less if Beyonce branches out into other genres. She can sing traditional Chinese opera while wearing a qipao and it wouldn't bother me any.
