Question Crucial X10 Pro 1TB or Firecuda Gaming ssd 1TB

Well, Im a bit confused. The benchmark, on anandtech webpage tells me firecuda is better at gaming generally but I couldn't find an option for crucial x10 pro in the comparison chart. Im lookin for an external ssd for pc & android. Primarily for in photoshop, illustrator, animation, 3d modeling working & storing, secondary use for gaming. What are your thoughts, recommendations, experiences?

well, so what would you say for samsung t9 and t7? It is 2024 - I dont know how we are closer to get laptops with gen 2x2 port easily - t9 worth it overall or t7 sufficient? The benchmarks indicate t9 show lower values than firecuda and x10 pro.

I don't pay attn to SS because of their pricing.

If you're dealing with anything beyond 10gbps USB you're better off putting together something specific in terms of an enclosure and add your own drive.

20gbps enclosures run ~$75 and 40gbps ~$120 and then you just pick your own M2 to stick inside.

Since the enclosures will be the bottleneck vs internal performance it makes sense to just get a Gen 3 drive at this point until USB4.2 / TB5 come around IRL.

I bought the Crucial X10 Pro directly from Crucial's website a couple of months back.


First problem is my laptop took 1 min. longer to boot, something was up with that drive that caused it to cause POST delay. Then the drive just failed after I copied all my data to it within a few days. Crucial then asked me to send it back for a refund which I did but ended up losing some money on shipping costs though. I then bought a Samsung T7 4TB external SSD and this thing is super fast and reliable as was my 4 year old Samsung T5.
