Question Gaming console Advise for kids

PCs are good for kids to learn on, but at the ages of 5 and 8, a console will definitely be easier/simpler/quicker access to gaming. You just turn it on and go.

Nintendo Switch is the easy choice for that age bracket, IMHO. Great selection of games for kids.

Son is 7 and he uses our custom steam box in big picture mode with no issues. It basically works like a console, turn it on, select the game you want through the big picture dashboard using an xbox controller, then play.

I will say, sending in a broken Switch Lite, to Nintendo to repair, and THEN trying to get all the games back on it, (the digital downloads) is a GIANT PITA. Goat simulator is one specific one. They didn't erase her account, ect, it was a display issue, that they didn't warranty, even tho I could not see signs of physical damage externally. Anyway it was I think 112 dollars. maybe 89 plus shipping. They said they found physical damage.

I made her ( the youngest) go without it all the way till XMAS, to try and teach a lesson. I digress.

My son who is more in tune with Nintendo's system, was able to regain access to that particular game. It was available on the control account, but not the supervised.

Also watch out for them being able to DL youtube. This has also been a PITA for me to monitor.

My thoughts are once they are able to download it they can re download it without consent. I might be confusing with Google play though. The family link app.

I sent in a switch to be repaired and they told me they found damage internally and wanted to charge $99 to fix it. I got on the phone with a supervisor and he was incredibly nice and ended up waiving the fee and also added in free shipping. You should have chatted with someone before paying.
