hi, after 10 minutes or so after boot i went checking steam downloads (witch was on the disk) and evrything was blocked, i tried to kill and restart steam but it wouldn't close, even task manager got stuck, so i trid to reboot via windows...and nothing...after 10-15 minutes i forced it...at splash screen pc reboot on its own, then it did a second time (this time reaching the mobo splash with dots pre w10 login) and after that it finally loaded windows...and the disk was gone...

i checked diskmanagement - nothing
reinstalled magician - nothing
crystaldiskinfo - nothing
tried to update firmware - doesnt work
checked disks in bios - nothing there

it does show up as hidden peripherals in system but it says it's not connected

this is not the first time i have issues with an nvme, i solved the previous one with a replacement

specs:

Gigabyte GA-H270-HD3
Intel Core i5-7500 3.4GHz
GIGABYTE NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti WINDFORCE OC
Ballistix Sport LT 16GB Kit (8GBx2) DDR4 2400
Samsung MZ-75E250B/EU SSD 850 EVO
Seagate Hard-disk ST2000DM006 Barracuda Sata III 7200rpm
Seasonic Focus Plus 550 Gold
and the nvme is
Samsung 970 EVO Plus 1 TB

at the time i simply replaced it after trying everithing, the current one is around 3 months old, the only positive thing is that this time i didn't use it as system disk...so...what's the deal? another dead disk? it's worth noting 2 power outage occured this past week, as i read that might fuck up with the controllers

any suggestion?

Swap the drives around to different sockets. Check the drive for marks due to the power issue. Boot to Linux off a USB drive and see if it shows in disks.

Do you have a battery backup? If not, that would be on my short list of things to purchase.

My guess is that the drive is toast. Can you try it in another system or with an adapter? If it doesn't show up that way I'd say it needs to be replaced.

you mean mobo battery? i had them but idk where those ended up, it's among one of the last thing i'd rather try because it's below the gpu, wich have it's own connection wonkiness, so i'd rather avoid extra problems if i can solve it another way

it might be the drive indeed but...2 in 4 months....i'm either very unlucky or there is something else here, also no i can't try it somewhere else

2 in 4 months
I got into using U.2/U.3 SSD drives last year and somehow had 2 die within a week. So, it's completely possible to have failures. I even ordered them from 2 different stores with the same result before switching brands. Sometimes there's just an issue with a batch of drives. The other consideration would be a HW issue with the MOBO causing the failures.

If you have a spare slot that's x4 or higher you could try using a PCIE adapter to slot the NVME into and see if it's just the socket on the MOBO being the issue. The adapter cards are cheap and if you use Amazon it's an easy return/refund when done with testing.

Using Amazon (or any other company) to get parts to use for "free testing" and then return,
is not in our ethics bag.

Please don't repeat this.

No, I mean a UPS, to keep the computer on during a power outage. Computers don't like sudden changes in voltage.
i do, and exatcly this week, right in time for 2 outage, it decided to not keep pc up and running, maybe i have to change battery there, but i'd rather solve this problem first

update: today the pc started rebooting randomly, once i was watching a video, second time browsing and third literally nothing as it was at the dsktop with only programs on startup running, so i decided to try and remove the nvme in case that was causing the issue and now pc has been running for 7 hours or so without rebooting, i guess the problem is physical and it's either the disk or connectors on the mobo, but i don't have any way to check without an additional purchase...i guess i'll either try to get a replacement or go without it
