Rekindles some of that old school hype when a game like Halo 2 would release. 100s of people waiting in line to get a physical copy of a game.
If they are, this launch may give some of those companies pause to consider how much publicity and fandom they are missing out on by not having physical launches. Everyone on twitter is showing off the swag it came with. Butthead - "They gave them wood."But but but ... physical games are dying!!!!
I mean that makes for great visuals but my son's copy came in the post this morning! Why queue? ( And I'm British, we don't normally pass up the opportunity to queue!)Rekindles some of that old school hype when a game like Halo 2 would release. 100s of people waiting in line to get a physical copy of a game.
My hot take is that it's an experience. They are making memories that will engender feels for the rest of their lives. Like people that wax warmly nostalgic about camping out for a PS2, Halo 2. Or whatever hot items they did it for.Why queue?
I guess that you don't live in the UK either when it would rain for the entirety of your queueing experience! My hot take is that it's an experience. These were all Game Stop customers that got a wooden plaque with the game. It is a cheesy extra, but because of how they procured it, it or the memory will be special to some of them. Some stores had Zelda trivia contests where customers could win Zelda extras. That was probably a good time too.
Personally, I think it is cool that we are on the other side of the pandemic and standing in line with 100s of others without needing a mask, or social distancing in store, is normal again. I only posted 2 examples, there were many. Pics of the store being packed with customers milling about while they waited. Something that could not have happened 2 years ago. A semblance of normalcy has an attraction all its own right now. I am stoked to see there were so many participants for this launch.

Most of my Switch games are physical, but it's hard to say no to digital when you get $100 eShop for $80 from Costco, and then turn that into 2 vouchers. Effectively 2 games for $40 per.But but but ... physical games are dying!!!!!
Especially when one of those vouchers can be used for TotK.Most of my Switch games are physical, but it's hard to say no to digital when you get $100 eShop for $80 from Costco, and then turn that into 2 vouchers. Effectively 2 games for $40 per.
