The stock cooler fan runs slow mostly, if you hook it straight to a PS connector it screams

The cpu is idling around 43c ( have a i7 2600K with a giant Coolermaster that idles around 28c )

Anyone recommendations for a good cooler ??
...................

Intel DQ67SW with Core i7 2600 3.4 GHz ...... socket 1155

The cooler is a little under 3 3/4" across

The 4 holes in the mobo for cooler are 3" apart in a square

A cooler larger than 3 3/4" will touch memory stick

Most of today's CPU coolers still support LGA1155. I believe your limiting factor will be the case more than the proximity to the RAM. Most coolers are taller and will clear the RAM modules shown in the pictures you posted. You usually only start having trouble if you have DIMMs with heat spreaders that get tall. One of the things I noticed is that the RAM isn't populated correctly on the motherboard. Maybe you just did that to measure? RAM should be in both blue slots. What case will this be in? The height of the cooler will dictate which way you need to go.

Here is a list of LGA1155 compatible coolers: https://pcpartpicker.com/products/cpu-cooler/#c=14 The Thermalright Peerless Assassin and Phantom Spirit are great models at both cooling and price if you have the height. If you need something low profile check out the ID Cooling IS-55 or IS-47.

42C idle is warm, but not unreasonably so. What are you seeing when you put it under load?

I'm not surprised it would be loud at full speed, but it should only do that when it is hot. You don't need to connect the fan directly to the power supply, just run it through the motherboard's CPU fan header.

But you could probably find a cheap cooler for socket 1155 with no problems.

In2Photos, ya correct, did the memory to measure, I got a great deal here on a 32 gig Crucial kit

They dont have the giant heat spreaders, they are Ballistik series

Brainonska511, the fan turns around 1000 rpm at idle, I tried everything I could do in the bios.. but still 1000

Did not try it under load, still on test bench making sure all is correct before installing it into case

Forgot I had a 212 CoolerMaster cooler that I added a powerful fan too and installed it

Temps are better but not as low with the same setup on my Sabretooth Z77
...................

When I first got the setup running, the idle temps were lower with stock cooler
I replaced the bios battery as habit, hit "Default settings" and the temps were higher ??

It has a simple old style bios screen, I read the boards were more of a work place type board

Many thanks for all the advice and taking your time to help

I am 10 years behind... lol ... and lost on Intel stuff as well ... last Intel was a Pentium 233, would smoke all my K5 stuff

Given the age, the stock cooler may just be in need of new thermal paste. The pad may have dried out with time.

I'm surprised there wasn't some sort of fan control setting in the BIOS, or like quiet operation, but maybe because it's an Intel brand board, it's just very simplistic. Could there also be some cool and quiet type setting, like automatic down clocking of the CPU when idle that got turned off by my default.

There are also a few Windows-based programs that can control fans after boot.

Brainonska511 .....the paste indeed almost dry and real thick, I installed a CoolerMaster 212, it is pretty tall but I had bought an extra deep case a while back

All the cores are idling around 23c to 29c throttled down to 1600, the cores jump around from 1600 to 1900

Thanks for the advice

Is that an "s" or "t" model of the chip? Otherwise, clocks look low. Did you plug in the CPU fan properly into the right fan outlet?
