Hi, I read the Elden Ring thread, awhile back, it sounded really good, is it completely single player? Like the Elder Scroll series? Worth it at $35 usd?

I also want to get BG3 but it's still up there, on sale but its $53 usd.

I have Grim Dawn, are the expansions worth it? Never finished it because it was still incomplete last time I played it. It was gifted to me from a D3 friend that passed away. I also have PoE that I bought into the kickstarter I think, It was also not completed last time I played.
Same story with Ark.


What about Stellaris? @11.99? Cyberpunk is at 30.

I did grab Agony awhile back due to reading a thread here or at OCN. Never installed yet. Appears that I have Ark Survival Evolved, and Of the Fittest in my library.

Purchased the Witcher series back in the fall.

Currently playing D4, and Elden Ring/Baldur's Gate 3 are my top picks. There was a Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance released in 2022 anyone have experienced that?

I hesitate on Edlen Ring due to system specs, same with BG3, although I avg 80fps on D4 with tweaked high settings. 1440p UW.

I don't have time for an MMO, and played Oblivion, and own a copy of Skyrim that my son's kinda ganked from me back in the day.

Starfield, I think looks like it could be fun, I have a Star Citizen access account, the 50 dollar one back from like 2010 or whenever it was just out of kickstarter.

What are your all's thoughts on above listed or ones not listed. Most importantly are the discounts good enough or not yet? ( I know that is subjective)

Every single game you listed except maybe Starfield is very well regarded. I think Starfield needs a bit more time in the same way Cyberpunk did at launch. It's more about what you like.

If you liked Grim Dawn when you played it, then all of the content is worth it.
If you want an ARPG that has a pile of content and build variety while also being online, then try PoE.
Cyberpunk is a great game now especially at $30.
Elden Ring is a great game but it's a souls game and you have to like challenging combat.
If you want a souls game then Sekiro is on sale and has the best combat of any game I've played.
ARK is a great game but it's something you play with friends, not solo, on custom servers.
BG3 is great and if you do majority of the content, you're looking at around 70-90 hours of gameplay time. If that helps on price vs entertainment.

It's spectacular and worth every penny at $60 much less $35. It has MP elements like invading other peoples' games to kill them and vice versa, or having others join your game to fight on your side. I do very much question whether an FX-8320 can run it well though. I pirated at launch just to see if my Xeon E3-1231v3 (it's an i7-4790 minus the integrated graphics) could handle it and the cpu struggled like hell and was incapable of running 60 fps. Convinced me to buy it on PS5 instead. Don't know if the game ever got better optimized. Ended up buying it for PC when I upgraded my cpu to an i5-12400F and gpu to an RX 6700 XT and it runs 1800p 60fps no problem. But the Xeon E3-1231v3 usually kills the FX-8320 in gaming and it choked hard on Elden Ring at launch. As for the game itself, it's right there next to Bloodborne and above all others for the greatest game made this century IMO.

Updated sig, using 8350 4,8ghz 2344mhz ram. Have a OG titan to install hopefully on new years weekend due to waterblock, will upgrade but now is not priority time. Custody of grandaughters takes 1st place. But I will let you know if it will run, I really want BG3 but will have to wait on that one too. I probably will grab Elden ring before Jan2.

It's quite fun with the noVR mod too. They say it can now be played from start to finish without issue, because apparently it had some issues before.

I had uploaded a relevant video with the noVR mod a while back (non monetized). It can run fine on a potato pc as you can see.

I'm very confused about how to install this mod. I have the files downloaded and extracted. Various websites say to overwrite the original
D:\Steam\steamapps\common\Half-Life Alyx\game
folder with the game folder in the noVR install. This would wipe out all the map files plus lots of other apparently critical files. Do you remember where you put the noVR files? I haven't been able to find a FAQ file or install directions on the moddb site.

All for $82 pre-tax. I usually budget $100 for the Winter Sale but this would be a solid haul if I stopped here.

A couple others I'm considering are Death's Door, DMC 1-3 collection (but it sounds like a glorified emulator with little QOL improvements) and Doom: Eternal (but my list is already pretty FPS heavy so I'll likely look for more side scrolling alternatives).

Edit: Also looking at Quantum Break so I can get the full Remedy set on Steam (excluding AW2 ofc) but the game is still stubbornly priced above my $10 threshold even when Control is priced less.

Hmm, I can't select the multi-tool which is essential to advance the game.

It even shows the multi-tool being selected in the little silhouette thing at the top of the screen but… gun.

I was able to get to the multi-tool by using Q to quick switch until I picked up a second weapon. Now quick switch only jumps between the two weapons and no access to the multi-tool again. Dead in the water again.

Baldur's Gate: DA I/II were Playstation 2 games from the early 2000s, this new one is apparently a different game (not a remake/remaster). Both are ARPG similar in style to Diablo, though.

By the description of the newer one, it sounds like I would enjoy the story of the new game more than the old (I read a lot of the IWD books years ago).

"Baldurs Gate Dark Alliance is the 4k upgrade to original PS2 game. Its still got coach coop as well. D&D Dark Alliance is the new one, which takes place hundreds or so years before the BG Dark Alliance game. Its in a new style of game play as well."

So it seems they did remaster the older one(s) as well. I'd opt for the new one, fwiw.

Search Balder's Gate in steam it's around the middle not too far down.
I couldn't find the original BG2 I had but might've been win 98 era. Maybe even 95.

I had it on disk but it's long gone. Remember seeing Fallout fs at that store too. 1st one.

Baldur's Gate I/II on PC were quite a bit different than Dark Alliance on the PS2...the originals on PC were far more in-depth/immersive, and many more hours of gameplay to complete.

Well I went ahead and grabbed both Elden Ring and BG3, BG is closer to my minimum specs anyways. Will be interesting to see how they both run.
