Welcome back to the weekly stats.

The Big Thing is Folding@Home again of course. January 7 ⇒ 14 ⇒ 21:

TeAm total for the week = 4,600 M ⇒ 5,400 M ⇒ 5,700 M
TeAm rank for weekly production = 6 ⇒ 5 ⇒ 5
Overall position = 15 ⇒ 15 ⇒ 14
Active participants = 70 ⇒ 71 ⇒ 76

But we've got more. Such as a sudden burst of Amicable Numbers and Moo! Wrapper, to Einstein's chagrin. ;-) Climate Prediction started to offer work on Monday (Weather at Home 2 for Windows hosts), and in return is receiving quite some TLC from the TeAm. DENIS hadn't had new work since late December or so but came back for half a week. The occasional work which GPUGrid is giving is still taken on by some of us as well. At LHC Dev@Home, the TeAm rank for weekly production dipped from 1st to 2nd, but nevertheless LHC Dev@Home keeps outshining LHC@Home proper. Attraction of the path less traveled? MilkyWay@Home had a general drop of granted credit during the week and other unusual developments, not sure why, actual computation certainly hasn't dropped. Plowing has started on the NumberFields, is it the right time of year? :-) Rosetta@home is still stingy with new work, but not as bad as in the week before.

Next up: PrimeGrid challenge starting Tuesday 12:00 AEDT/ 01:00 UTC = Monday 20:00 EST/ 17:00 PST, and F@H bigadv eol challenge starting Wednesday.

I can't speak for anyone else, but I'm slowly crawling toward my goal of pushing into the top 10 on the Dev project. Can only run 1 or 2 VBOX tasks at a time on my computers since they use 6-8GB each, so it's a long, slow grind. I have been letting a couple of small machines run one regular and one dev task at the same time, but they keep fighting for memory even with 16GB of RAM and nothing else running, so I turned off the regular project for now.

It's not often that CPDN has tasks ready to send. Out of curiosity, I started an old Haswell laptop with Windows (I only have Linux otherwise, haven't tried WAH2 in Wine yet…) and launched two WAH2 tasks on it yesterday. And of course here we go again: CPDN's upload server (upload7.cpdn.org) is presumably crowded and I've got two trickle files for each task in the client's upload retry queue by now. (But there are also two successful trickles listed for each of my two tasks on the web site, so it's not completely hopeless.)

They are Windows only.
My trickles are going through fine. US here though, minnesota and florida.

Wine works too, according to the developer.
Some of the currently active batches are easily crashing. The bugs are basically known to the current developer but couldn't be fixed anymore before the work batches had to go life.
If you received CPDN work before and had several crashes, the server will subsequently assign only one new task to the host per day, until the host completes tasks successfully again.

All my trickles are going through.

Well that explains why I can't get any more tasks on one PC. I wanted to grab a bunch of work so I set a higher queue/days of work. With the hour long delay between updates I got some and they started. I suspended them at around 2 min run time and all those failed once restarted.

My only Windows host is the only one attached to the project. I still have never received a single task from them in many, many years.

Maybe some of the resource requirements can't be fulfilled?
Here are example data from one of my current two workunits:
rsc_memory_bound = 364 MBytes
rsc_disk_bound = 2,000 MBytes
At the moment, 2.6 GB of disk space are occupied by CPDN on the laptop with its two running tasks, and the current WAH2 app and its data being the only application which was ever downloaded into this client.

www.climateprediction.net shows "Service unavailable" to me too right now. But the actual BOINC site www.cpdn.org still works for me. (Unfortunately, climateprediction.net is the master URL. The scheduler, web interface and such are at www.cpdn.org though. File servers differ between work batches.)
