Question not too related to this thread:

Any recommendations as far as a calibrator for monitors?

I just picked up my second U2410, and still have three 20WMGX2 at home They all differ in some ways in the output so it would be nice to make them "real"

Looking for a new monitor to becomin my primary as I just upgraded my GPU to a 780 classy

I currently have the ASUS VH238H and was curious what monitor would be a good upgrade with lightboost for a reasbonalbe price.

How is this compared to the others out there and in this price range?
ASUS VG248QE (I heard red/black tinting may be an issue)

Or would it be wise to wait since it's not a needed upgrade just a want

Gsync is out in a month or so and that is probably a better target for an upgrade than just a lightboost 2 monitor. The Asus monitor you have is actually capable of being upgraded to gsync, but since you don't seem to care much about it I suspect you should wait 1-2 months and see what the gsync monitor world and pricing looks like and buy one of those. It has the same lightboost 2 features but it allows the strobe low motion blur option without changing the colour making it quite a lot better than the hack used on lightboost 2.

Thank you;is there any indication of pricing on the new monitors? I personally cant see spending a ton.

Lots, its +$200 for gsync over the normal monitor and its mostly lightboost like monitors so not the cheap end ones but high end 144hz panels.

The $200+ are the DIY kit upgrades. However, a few months ago, it was reported the g-sync monitors coming from the factory will cost an addition $100.

On top of a current lightboost 120 or 144hz monitor. Probably looking at least $400 at release for 24". Maybe more.

Blur Busters would rather nVidia not modify LightBoost to be harder to use for LightBoost 2D, as it took a while for ToastyX to make his easy Strobelight utility, that turns on/off LightBoost upon a keypress.

They said initially the modules would be $100 and that it would be similar on the models released (probably tom at pcper.com interview). But then the module came out at twice that and the price estimates for the monitors look to be about +$200. I think at this point its looking more like 200 rather than 100.

G-sync has a 2D mode built in, and it doesn't mess up the colors like Lightboost.

At $200 I'm not as interested in the module. If it goes on sale or they drop the price I'll bite, but Lightboost 2D is good enough until I buy a new monitor, which will probably be years from now when I go 4K.

NVIDIA actually made it easier and better with ULMB (LightBoost sequel).
Now you can turn on/off via a monitor button instead.

Does anyone know if EIZO is planning to release a 27" version of their Turbo240 monitor ?

The Eizo 24" looks like the best monitor for me. I don't mind the miniscule stuttering that could be solved with G-Sync. But I really would like to get rid of blur. Now that I got used to 27" a while ago, I don't think I want to go back to 24". I wouldn't mind paying a bit more for 27".

I know the Gsync DIY module is out and the $400 already installed Gsync VG248QE is about to be out but the Non Gsync ASUS VG248QE is $232 today on NCIX for anyone that would like one

Has gsync proven to be THAT great on 1080 monitors? Still looking to get a second monitor

There is no word which can describe G-Sync. And with the easy to go Lightboost mode you can easily switch G-Sync or Lightboost without hacks.

I'm a little confused.

Seeing as how Gsync is Displayport connection, with my 780 Classified would I be able to run 1 monitory through DVI at 60Hz and then the Gsync monitor through Displayport at 144Hz? (dual monitory setup)

Yes you should be able to do that.

Thanks

Is the Asus VG248QE G-sync buyable from places or is it only available as a "buy it and the place you buy it from will install the g-sync module for you"?

Google is not being my friend atm -.-

Edit: looks like Q2

i'm not doing anything until i see the pricing on 27" G-s.

quick edit: the PG278Q has a (US) tag of $799, not available yet.
with our usual luck, it will cost here £600 (instead of the £480 it should)

Any ideas on what's going on with Gsync. Seems to be no information coming out. Problems maybe?

I know the BenQ XL2420Q has been delayed until September now.

VG248QE dropped to $280 on Amazon
XL2420Z (hopefully V2) is $400 after tax on Amazon
