Arizona Supreme Court upholds civil war era law banning all abortions. Another purple state may turn solidly blue.

I keep thinking that Trump's chances in 2024 aren't as good as polls suggest for precisely this reason. So long as the Dems remind enough voters that it's the Republicans hurting women with anti-abortion policies, they should have a strong election day turnout that works in their favor.

Along with Repubs continually trying to “cancel” Social Security and Medicare.

During Trump’s presidency, every budget submitted by the WH had funding to both cut drastically.

So while righties try to deny this, the budget requests show the truth.

Every single Democratic ad mentioning Trump should be some variation of:

"Donald Trump--the man that overturned Roe v Wade--....."

Same for each and every GOP politician. You have seen them trying to scurry away from the car now that they caught it, don't let them.

Especially, when they are completely deaf on the political realities by doubling down on national abortion bans, and many other extremist abortion policies. Trump's clumsy back pedaling only magnifies the ridiculousness of it all.

Arizona Republicans are so rabidly partisan that they will vote to enshrine abortion rights in the state constitution and, in the same election, return their nutjob legislators who vow to ban abortion.

Let's hope that cancerous tumor of a party actually does die on that hill. We need the dying part to happen
The US needs conservative politicians, to be clear, even if it's just as a check on the liberal side. However, I do think the Republicans as they are today have veered way, way too far off-course. They're obsessed with culture wars, and of course are too eager to support demagoguery.

This country has careened far to the right. Our "liberals" would likely be centrists in most other "first world countries"--ie, not the type of banana republic authoritarian's wet dream that Trump envies.

Reagan--who was a scumbag for various reasons--would be shunned by today's GOP (as Romney became). He's not nearly abrasive enough.

Not sure they've ever really had a "course" other than culture wars. Used to be commies and hippies, now it's trans and immigrants and kneeling football players and "Woke". There's always an enemy to distract the rubes. I'm sure BLM and An-tee-fuh will be recycled at some point.

It would be interesting to see which would win out, the clandestine dressed up awfulness of Reagan or the openly hateful awful of Turmp. In this day, I think it'd be the latter because the former can't hide as well and the means by which they enacted their policies (right wing think tanks pushing it, giving it the air of legitimacy when in fact they were just flooding things with nonsense) don't have the same clout plus even they run into issues (like when one found that the Medicare for All would save billions of dollars in health care spending - despite them setting out to prove the opposite to be true). And the clandestine ones largely switched to the private sector where there's much less scrutiny and even less punishment for their awfulness.

Except they're poised to take back the Senate and presidency, control most states legislatures, governor's mansions and the SCOTUS.

Other than that, they're going away.
God you are such a MAGAT. Just admit it. You are the most negative person on these forums except for the fact you are MAGAT troll pretending not to be. Go take Prozac, get colonics, see psychiatrist to remove far right brainwashing. Or go to far right far forums so we don’t have to read your cheese with your wine.

Do we though? In a hypothetical world where change is super easy, when a change turns out to be disastrous it is super easy to change back or modify. So where does the benefit of conservatism come in?

Repugs are doubling down on the issue that has defined every election since 2020.

Sounds good to me.

You don't have to be a Maga snorter to be worried about Democratic chances.

And if you happen to live in a red state, you might have a different perspective on just how dominant the GOP can be locally (and how feeble the Democrats can be).

Democrats were confident in 2016. I wouldn't underestimate how ignorant the masses are, including demographics that one might think would want to vote against Trump more than oldsters like me...the "chickens voting KFC" factor if you will. Fear driven by misinformation is a powerful motivator.

Regardless, I'll vote as hard as I can, donate where I see fit, and that's about all I *can* do. I have no clue what will happen but I refuse to be optimistic or confident about Biden's chances. The fact that a criminal rapist fraud, who already showed his true colors as President, is even IN a political race let alone competitive should tell you how screwed up this country is.

And? While I don’t agree with him the incessant end of the world spewing is eye rolling. I recommend giving up and join the winning orange team. I mean why have any positive thoughts or hope. Just give up. Believe in The orange god. Believe in fascism. It is the best! The bigliest.

You have no idea how it will turn out. If Trump gets in and burns country down then so be it but Jesus get a grip with end-of-the-world mentality. How about going out and trying to get people to vote?

How about trying to inform women and minorities who may not vote the consequences? Democrats are such wimps. Wahhhhhhhhhhjj

My hope is that they're undersampling Millennial and Gen Z voters like they did in 2022 since no one 40 and under is answering a call from an unknown number.

Conservative/liberal not very different. We need socialist politicians as a check on the conservatives/liberals.
