FX-8370 beats i5-2500k in new games due to multithreading

Reading back through this, I feel as a single processor the PIII 1.13GHz CPU doesn't get enough hate. Released for over $1k. Already golden sample CPU's. Only gotten as far as to ship to like 10-15 reviewers. Was running so badly it performed like a CPU that was overclocked to far. Recalled...

Maybe not. Though a 6950 a week or two ago would have been pretty close. But its not just about how it compares as the lowest specced of current gen releases. Lovelace is fast enough that just being the lowest price of available newer cards still makes it faster than most last gen products...

Question How does the Intel CPU "Ring" work?

The ring at least on this level wouldn't be an actual ring. Also just looking at the layout is more of a hybrid, setup with dies across being as directly connected as the ones left and right (and maybe even more so). So cores in the center would have more direct connections and lower latency...

Not only a mix, but by splitting them up overall yields go up. I was worried about bandwidth on the IF connects and latency. But in the end even if they affected performance they seemed to get a pretty good balance out it.
