As I wrote, it wasn't what I expected, but I enjoyed it. The girl turned out to be a better plot twist than anything Shamalamadingdong has done since - I see dead people.

Watched Pitch Black for the first time in 15yrs? Man this movie aged well. 8.5/10 No wonder we got a kickass video game, and a good sequel. If you didn't like Chronicles 🖕

I did not just watch them, but will again highly recommend Locke and The Rover.
i liked Chronicles of Riddick, quite a lot in fact. Yes it's got problems, but so does PB. I think it has the same "made on the cheap" charm, the story is .. clumsy, but it's just an excuse to cram in those 3/4/5 good scenes, and those good scenes, they are good.

Kinda Pregnant - 6/10 - kinda "meh" in general. It "feels" like a Netflix movie. It does have some funny parts for sure but also Amy Schumer is a bit over the top as usual in parts and that is kind of annoying. And as with 99% of comedies now a days, it tries to get serious at the end.

You're Cordially Invited - 8/10 - now this was just a funny movie from start to finish. It did go a bit over the top at a couple parts but it felt okay in the confines of the movie. It was one of those movies that are just funny and silly throughout and didn't actually try to get all serious or anything like most comedies. I enjoyed it quite a bit.

My irrational dislike of Will Ferrell has kept me from watching any of his movies. I don't know why…

...would be my recommendations and yes, in that exact order.

People also like Talladega Nights (can't really remember anything about it) and Anchorman movies (I guess they weren't horrible).

Life is just too short I reckon.

I'm with ya - he's just not funny.

I tolerated Everything Must Go and have largely avoided every comedy movie he starred in with the exception of Old School, which he was beyond cringe in.

idk, he's one of those guys who sometimes just works.
After watching Palm Springs and finding Andy Sandber not-shit, i have been a lot more open-minded. And Anchorman is funny.
The guy is defo out for a quick paycheck tho, and his filmography is, frankly, terrible. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Will_Ferrell_filmography

Watched the first episode of Three Body Problem on Netflix.

Ehhh.

Bunch of the Game of Thrones cast is in there, couple other recognizable faces too but the mystery just isn't gripping me and there is too much supernatural-esq bullshit (all the stars in the sky flicking on and off, characters having countdown timers in their vision, stupid gold panty helmet being some sort of obv advanced communications device) for me to feel like this is not going to have a satisfying payoff.

The most interesting part of the episode is actually the portrayal of post revolution China. It's weirdly refreshing to see the revolutionaries portrayed in such a negative light in a world hyper sanitized by China friendly content.

I'd watch a whole ass show about the brutality of the post revolution period in China, not sure about Three Body Problem tho...

Meh, I’m old af. At 65 I never got into the sophomoric stuff and never watched the adult oriented cartoons either. *shrug*

Throw Vince Vaughn in with that group of Will Ferrel and Adam Sandler although he does pull of being a better villain than comedian. "Bad Monkey" is a prime example of his best comedic work and that was sorely lacking IMHO. Guess you just have to like these guys for some reason to watch them. A few other stars like McConnahay and Adam Driver creep me out but Ill still watch them.

Yeah, no "adult cartoons" for me either.

Talking of comedians that also played villainous roles, I have to mention Bill Murray in https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1396221/reference/

I watched the whole movie in anticipation for something comedic by him because I thought he wouldn't do anything other than comedy (yes, if you think I'm naive now, you should've met the younger, dumber me) but all I got was a really mean, despicable gangster.

Dude, you would have only been in college when I was in jr high. And you are telling me you didn't like CaddyShack, Meatballs, Animal House, Porky's, Better Off Dead, Revenge of the Nerds, etc. If so, sucks to be you.

And Venture Bros, Rick and Morty, Archer, King of the Hill are all comedy gold IMO.

I never even heard of that movie, now I want to watch it. That's quite a cast. Even has the Iceman Chuck liddell. As if that isn't enough, the first 2 key plot points are - woman wears a thong and woman wears black lingerie 🤣

Vince Vaugh was pretty good as the straight man in Dodgeball. I've only seen one Will Ferrell movie, Zoolander, and he was awful. That may not be his fault though as everything about that movie except the "we're here for the orgy" line is painful. Horrible acting, horrible script, horrible direction, a waste of everybodies' lives from the producer to the key grip to the audience. I've never seen an Adam Sandler movie. The trailers always looked stupid.

Heh heh… at that age most of my time in upstate New York was spent inside a hockey rink or playing hockey somewhere, a road, a pond, the driveway. There wasn't a lot of time for TV or the movies. Animal House was real good, Porky’s was a hoot just for the tits! I think my only other favorite movie around that time was happy Gilmore.
