Basically you can't find a negative review of the show, unless of course, DigDog has one to release.

I watched Andor EP 2-4 and i thought that it was, okay, but i praise it for actually moving the fucking plot along. There's SO many shows that have EP1 "check out this cool premise we thought" and EP2 - infinity is all the fucking same, nothing happens until the last half of the last espisode.
Examples, uh, idk, The Dome.

I dont get the whole concept of "i like star wars".
I liked the first film, because it was a good film. I also liked the second and third film because they were good, not because "they were Star Wars TRADEMARK".
I didn't like (other Star-Wars-Expanded-Universe-Productcode74165) films because they were not good films. the fact that "they are star wars" doesn't really do anything for me.

A film being tied to a pre-existing product can, at most, make me more interested into seeing what the new one is, maybe even bring me to the theater, but it won't affect my judgement.
Now, i may like some subjects more, e.g. maybe i like lightsabers, maybe i like spaceships, or tanks, or godzilla, so films that have those elements may get a better judgement from me, but i'd still judge a product based on its quality, not by association.
And, to be honest, the Star Wars fanchise doesnt have a enviable quality rating, these days.

I watched the first 4/5 episodes of Andor and then wasn't interested anymore. At first, i was pleasantly surprised that the show wasn't complete shit, which is what i expect these days of anything branded Star Wars. The "futuristic/western" look that SW products tend to have is nice, but by no means special. I mean, Firefly has it .. see how that turned out.
But then i found that, i wasn't really interested in the story. The unlikable protagonist that has to infiltrate the EVIL FASCIST OPPRESSORS in itself isn't enough to keep me interested.

I think, if they had used the same actors, the same plot, the same resources, but added a bit of novelty to the story, it would have probably helped.

Having to hammer on to my point, the Empire in SW1 was like, super on-the-nose SPACE NAZIS, they were as clear-cut of a "generic dictatorial antagonist 4" example as they could be, because this simplifies the story for the viewer - Empire bad, Rebellion good.

So, yeah. If you asked me 30 years ago, i too would have said i like SW, but only because all 3 films happen to be good. Today, not really, no.
let's say, i .. like "Indiana Jones", because i like the character .. but then you can have a great character, put him in Kingdom of the Cristal Skull, and it's still shit.

You need to read the SW novels (not the Disney ones) and maybe look at some of the old SW games manuals (X-Wing and Tie Fighter ones especially) to really understand why people got sucked into the SW galaxy. That was really good stuff. The brilliant thing Lucas did was flesh out the WHOLE galaxy, as much as they could back then and not in a "hey, this is cool. buy this merchandise" kind of way but in a very "authentic" way that made you feel like there probably IS an ACTUAL galaxy like that far, far away. Give me a good movie with plenty of SW concepts that I'm familiar with and I can watch it all day long. But don't frickin' try to redefine concepts or try to make things better, like Disney tried to do and mostly failed.

The Last of Us s2e2 is the best episode in the series thus far. What an amazing episode.
It was great but also pissed me off. My buddy who is a gamer and like many, loved the games, said the fan base was pretty split when what happened with Joel in this las episode went down. Like the coincidence was just over the top.

"Her Alibi" - 6/10

Cute movie the GF liked from her childhood. It's got Magnum PI and KITT in it, so it's going to be at least decent. Best part is when the KITT guy tells a little kid to shut up.

Despecialized is OK, but have you seen the 4k## versions? It's a must if you're into the whole film grain thing.

i didn't mean Despecialized over any other. And, frankly, i cannot say which one of the various fan-remasters has the best color. Remember i grew up watching this on VHS, copied off the TV .. But in general, any version which undoes the awfulness that George "Fat Bastard" Lucas added to the digital releases.

Still nothing compares to the original anamorphic prints, that Lucas COULD release, if he wasnt'a big poopy man full of poop.

Daredevil: Born Again 7/10

Fun, but didn't have quite the same draw as the OG series. I liked the She-Hulk cameo better. I would re-watch the original show, but probably won't rewatch this season again. Not that it was bad, but a bit more of a filler/closure story.

Brad Winderbaum says Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 is coming out in 2026 "and then hopefully season 3 and season infinity after that."

Commissioner Gallo's death BRUH Did they hire TWD SFX team for that?? lol

I wish they had done something with the Amulet. It felt like they didn't know if they'd get another season, so they left it open with the niece.

I feel like that's one of the reasons they took out Foggy. He was one of the best parts of the show & the whole Daredevil vibe just wasn't the same without his humor & humanity to balance things out.

Frank was great, as always. Another Punisher season plz.

EXCELLENT commentary on today's political climate. They called current events early during filming. VERY impressed with the parallels!

Didn't like the beard in the suit. Feels like Hopper from Stranger things under the mask lol.

His therapist's girlfriend's switch to Fisk at the end felt quick & lame.

Throwback:

I watched

Chronicles Of Riddick - https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0296572/reference/

in the *theatrical* version, which is better in every way compared to the director's cut.

1. everything the DC adds is redundant and over-explains the things which are later either hinted at, or explained subtly somewhere else
2. more fighting scenes do not make the film better
3. shorter runtime helps the pacing
4. they have the excellent "NEVER!" instead of the lame "f you" during the fight with the big bad guy.

i know there are mixed feelings about this film, but i loved it. Good villain, a good subplot about the power struggle in the necromonger faction, that intertwines with the main plot.
Some elements are weak, sure. Kyra is a horrible character, black-preacher-dude is poorly recycled. And, let's be honest, the whole necromonger stuff is quite cartoonish. Now, i don't terribly mind this last aspect, and i found the sets & costumes to be pretty good, aside from a few matte paintings and some other cost-related elements like that.
Vin Diesel is just great as Riddick, and hey, it's got Thandiwe Newton, you guys like her, right?
Karl Urban is the important secondary antagonist. And, the plot isn't just a dumb "kill the bad guy" schtick, there's a bit more to it and on top of that the what-little horror element that serves as the background story is quite nice, too.

Today i would rate this film 7/10. When it came out, fresh on the trail of Pitch Black, i would have given it a 8/10. If you watch this having NOT seen Pitch Black, probably 6/10.

LOVED Pitch Black. Enjoyed Riddick, but it wasn't a fun B-movie anymore. Went from 23M to 110M budget between movies. Apparently there was a third one?

Wicked 6/10

It was, OK?

Started out like mean girls, then took a left turn half way into the movie as that tension was defused, then took another very predictable turn once in the Emerald City.

I was entertained, but it also feels like it's hitting every high school drama geek trope in the book, like it's written like a school assignment.

In a weird way, I'm getting Hobbit vibes from Wicked. Like it should be a 3 hour thing that's going to get stretched to 5-6 hours and will suffer for it.

Hard to judge these "Part 1" movies honestly because they will live or die on the quality of the subsequent parts. Like I honestly thought The Last Jedi was interesting for at least trying to do something different with the Star Wars trope, but the movie was made worse after the absolute cluster funk that was TRoS

@stargazr i almost entirely agree.
Star Wars, 1 is better than 2, but then again they are both so excellent that they could be both 10/10.
Indiana Jones 3 was bad. Not as bad as 4 or 5 but still, really, it was not ok.
Star Trek, 1 & 2 are both better than what the graph implies, for different reasons.
Die Hard 3 is at least as good as 2.
Blade 1 is better than Blade 2.
Terminator 1 is better than T2, but i understand why people would disagree (fucking casuals).
Rambo 2 and Rambo 3 are trash.
Alien 1 and Alien 2 are both excellent, but for different reasons.
the other ones are on point.
