So the explicit Israeli goal here is regime change in Iran. Which uh fine I guess since I don't have any love for the ayatollah. The idea that a democratic Iran would be less hostile to Israel and not seek the bomb also feels...underbaked to say the least. If they got their wish they could end up producing a more competent government and military that still hates their guts that does less adventurism (Syria, Hezbollah, Hamas, etc) but has nuclear weapons.
Look how well that's working out in other countries that were regime changed.
The goal isn't regime change.
The goal has nothing to do with nuclear technology or any of the stated objectives.
The goal is the land grab and dismantling of the networks who are have used the Palestinian cause as an excuse.
The hardliners want to annex the strip and the westbank. They want Hezbollah shut down for security.
Iran's is a country that is independent of Israel and US control and is source of funding and weapons. It also has an educated society.
Israel's goal is to destabilize and devolve Iran into a 3rd world country and then work with Allies to prop up a puppet government. US want control of Iran's resources and kill its local industries. Israel wants the elimination of anything approaching a peer state that could influence neighoring regions.
Iran could could halt funding arms supply to Hezbollah tomorrow.
The US and Israel would still stick to the game plan. They want instability to continue.
Iran, if they weren't run by idiots needs to deal with IRG and the hardliners holding that country back.
Severe arms and funding to various destabilizing groups. Engage with China and the EU. Joint partnerships with China are going to be the way to go.
Finally give Israel an official "we dont give a crap about you" letter.
They will need to keep the US at arms length as should everyone else.
They would need to deal with hardliners.
It would be hilarious watching Iran turn normal and to watch Israel splinter into cool Israel and crazy orthodox Israel but fortunately those lazy cowards are too busy murdering Arabs in the west bank to notice that the rest of the country hates them.
As cold hearted as it is to say, status quo wasn't working and it not like the US or Israel is a good path so might as well just get this shit over with now.
Too bad Israel is shooting itself in the foot with some of their actions here and the groups they are arming are going to turn on them. Their actions are inspiring newer factions who will be targeting Israelis (and americans) and .
Whatever....
