Sticking AI right into search seems like a bad idea for search engines to do. Imagine all the extra compute resources that is taking and most people who are doing a search are probably not interested in the AI answer and just skip over it. What they should do is make it an option when you search. Ex: do a regular search or do an AI query.

One way to circumvent the requirement of a desktop client is to use WASM to do the required computation inside the browser so the full available power of the PC can be tapped without much effort from the user.
It would take a _lot_ for me to trust an AI summary of anything of any importance (like health issues). Would much rather read the primary sources for myself. Those AI summaries _sound_ very plausible and reasonable, because they are worded so as to be a direct answer to whatever question one asked, but it seems dangerous to trust them.
I have noticed though that the "AI summary" that Google now gives - for _some_ searches, but not all (and I don't know why it does it sometimes but not others - maybe it's how you word the search?) - seems to be pretty unreliable, to the point where I scroll past it. When searching for information on topics I've already read a lot about, that AI summary seems to be rather inaccurate, and I personally wouldn't trust it.
