Bunch of crying victimhood bitches. It's funny when Judges give lengthier sentences because of the convicted idiot's own mouth. One of the few times/places I think "karma" applies.

...'U.S. District Judge Royce Lamberth condemned the depiction by Trump and Republican allies of Jan. 6 defendants as “political prisoners” and “hostages.” Lamberth also denounced attempts to undermine the legitimacy of the justice system for punishing rioters who broke the law when they invaded the Capitol.

“In my 37 years on the bench, I cannot recall a time when such meritless justifications of criminal activity have gone mainstream,” Lamberth, an appointee of President Ronald Reagan, wrote in a recent ruling. The judge added he “fears that such destructive, misguided rhetoric could presage further danger to our country.” ...

...Before sentencing a Kentucky man, who already had a long criminal record, to 14 years in prison for attacking police with pepper spray and a chair, U.S. District Judge Amit Mehta admonished the man for propagating “the lie that what’s happening here in Washington, D.C., is unfair and unjust.”

“You are not a political prisoner,” Mehta, who was nominated by President Barack Obama told Peter Schwartz. “You’re not Alexei Navalny,” the judge said referring to the imprisoned Russian opposition leader. “You’re not somebody who is standing up against injustice, who’s fighting against an autocratic regime. ... You’re somebody who decided to take the day into his own hands, much in the same way that you have used your hands against others for much of your life.”

Michael Sparks , the first one to enter the Capitol after someone else broke the window, was convicted of all six charges that he faced, including two felonies. Charges were four misdemeanor counts, including trespassing and disorderly conduct, and 2 felony charges of civil disorder and obstruction of an official proceeding. Sentencing Jul 9. The other rioter who was charged with him pled guilty and was already sentenced to 4 years 2 months.

It's been 2 months since the last post in this thread...but the hits keep on coming!

A Kingston man was sentenced to more than 7 years in federal prison Wednesday after his conviction for taking part in the Jan. 6, 2021 riot at the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C.

According to the U.S. Attorney's Office in the District of Columbia, Taylor James Johnatakis, 40, was sentenced to 87 months in prison and ordered to pay $2,000 in restitution by U.S. District Judge Royce C. Lamberth, following his November conviction on seven charges, including three felonies.

Hammer must be used for Antifa

Seems like a very faint echo of what used to happen in Wiemar Germany - where conservative judges regularly let Nazi assassins of leftist politicians off lightly while invoking the death penalty for communists who killed right-wingers.

And another one bites the dust.

Jack Whitton bragged that he “fed” a police officer to a mob of rioters storming the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, was sentenced on Thursday to nearly five years in prison for his repeated attacks on law enforcement during the insurrection.

He's been in jail for 3 yrs since being arrested so probably won't have to stay much longer. Pity. He was a real doozie.

"struck an officer with a metal crutch and dragged him — head first and face down — into the crowd on the Capitol’s Lower West Terrace."
20 minutes later he "tried to pull a second officer into the crowd"
" He also kicked at, threatened and threw a construction pylon at officers"
“You’re gonna die tonight!” he shouted at police after striking an officer’s riot shield.

Five years? Meanwhile someone committed voter fraud on accident and they too received five years. Our sentencing system seems a little off.
While I don't disagree, there is a big difference between state and federal laws and sentencing guidelines.

That’s a good point but should there be?
Of course. Currently, marijuana is illegal at the federal level...yet it's been legalized by many states. Should the feds throw out their marijuana sentencing before the laws are changed...or should the states revert back to making the stuff illegal?

FWIW, I don't partake of "the devil's lettuce." Can't stand the taste, the smell, or the buzz. I don't support locking people up for smoking it though...as long as they're not driving stoned. IME, pot creates a lot fewer problems than alcohol.

Other people go to an insurrection, get a slap on the wrist at sentencing. Maybe probation, maybe a few months to a year. Quaglin went full insurrection. Never go full insurrection.

I figure every one of those folks who obeyed Trump's instructions to invade the capitol for him will wear their convictions on their sleeves with pride "because I did it for Trump and he's The Man". Such is the contorted logic of a MAGAt conditioned by four years of a Trump and his freeloading nepotic children set loose in the White House where every protocol, rule, law and tradition broken by Trump and his kids were hailed as "sticking it to the man".
