I don't think the feds finding duck tape or weapons is an indication of guilt to be honest.. I mean, I have duct tape, two hand guns, and probabably other things that can be classified as a weapon, as millions of others around the country do, does that make any of us guilty of any crime? Don't get me wrong, I have zero sympathy for this woman, and she got what she deserved.. well actually, she didn't get what she diserved, the sentence should have been much harsher. I just don't think your example of the feds finding duct tape and weapons is an indication of guilt or innocence.

I'd agree except the OP said

As a note, she stormed into the capitol with an ax, and they found duct tape and weapons when the feds raided her home after Jan 6. Hardly someone who is innocent.

If that is accurate, it's not really the same as having an ax in your house.

I think you missed the point. I never said or implied that having an ax at the capitol was the same as having an ax at home. I never talked about the Ax she had at the capitol. The OP is the one who brought up the raid at her home, where they found duct tape and weapons, and states "hardly someone who is innocent". I was only talking about what they found at her home. Finding duct tape and weapons at her home is an indication of nothing, which was my point. The ONLY thing that speaks of "hardly someone who is innocent" is the ax at the capitol, not the duct tape and weapons, they found during the raid. The OP was implying that the ax at the capitol goes hand in hand with the duct tape and weapons they found at her home, which together is an indication of guilt/innocence, which simply is not the case, as millions (most) American's have such items in their homes.. what they found in her home, is not relevent to guild or innocent of her actions at the Capitol. Only the AX, along with her actions, at the capitol is.

To be honest, neither the OP's comment nor your reply was 100% clear.

The "Hardly someone who is innocent" follows the "stormed into the Capitol with an ax". I agree that having duct tape in your house is not evidence of anything (would be a lot more significant if she'd had it on her when entering the Capitol). Not enough detail given to know what the significance of the "weapons" is.

More complete report here (doesn't even mention what was found at her home)

On Jan. 6, 2021, Ms. Powell pushed against police barricades at the Capitol while shouting, “Come on up people, don’t be shy!” and then joined others who were pushing through the police, prosecutors wrote in court documents.

Ms. Powell also repeatedly struck a window at the Capitol with an ice ax and then used a large cardboard tube as a battering ram, breaking the glass, prosecutors wrote.

She later used a bullhorn to encourage others who were storming the Capitol, telling them they should “probably coordinate together if you’re going to take the building,” prosecutors wrote.

Prosecutors wrote that Ms. Powell had an “obsession with keeping former President Trump in power” and had “conducted surveillance on local legislators in order to intimidate them into voting for” Mr. Trump before Jan. 6.
A day after the attack, according to prosecutors, she wrote on social media: “We have given you all a chance to help us settle this peacefully. We have been patient. The time is up.”

Over the next several days, prosecutors said, she continued to post about the riot, writing: “They didn’t open the gates. The people trampled them. It was war.”

Ms. Powell was arrested by the F.B.I. on Feb. 4, 2021.

She was later indicted and was tried this year on nine charges, including civil disorder, destruction of government property, and entering and remaining in a restricted building or grounds with a deadly or dangerous weapon. Judge Lamberth found her guilty on all counts.

I did agree earlier in the thread that taken in isolation, having a gun (or other weapon), and having duct tape, does not equate to guilt.

I don't remember where the article I read this at was, but the article wasn't clear that these items were found together in the woman's home. But for the article to mention it, I made the assumption they were found together in her home, which, taken with the fact she stormed the capitol with a weapon, does make it circumstantial evidence for the crime she is being charged with.

Nevertheless, she stormed the capitol with a weapon, causing damage to property and illegally entering a restricted area. That is not in question. That is a crime she is guilty of.

"I have failed everyone around me" kudos for her for saying at least one accurate thing in her adult life.

She's lucky she's only getting five years. She herself said it was "war". If you are part of a rebel coup in many (most?) places you wouldn't be alive soon afterward.

I realize these people are all pathetic, as was their coup, but that doesn't make it less worthy of punishment. Enjoy prison, asshole.

FYI. This is the same woman I posted about earlier

Her website really shows how stupid she is …. She talks about how it is her right to protest peacefully then complains how she is going to jail about her vandalism / etc.

MAGA logic at its finest

They have this amazing ability to rationalize their way around any 'ol thing that makes them feel guilty about the crimes they commit in Trump's name, or the blatant lies they prefer to believe, or their racist attitudes, or the hypocrisy they rely on to project their cares away of which their religious zealots are the absolute worst and of course, how they painfully, humiliatingly, disgustingly rationalize their way around the malevolent vile acts of treachery against the nation their Orange Menace perpetrates at will.

Pink hat lady was on CNN..
After watching this clip of the recent interview with her...

She still believes the lies. Still believes TwoScoops won. Believes it was all an FBI setup. Regrets only that she was arrested and held accountable for her actions and decisions. Figuratively spat on the court during her trial.

She's an imbecile, and deserves everything coming to her. Even if she acknowledged it (and she doesn't), I don't accept the notion that she was, "misled by Donnie". It was her decision to take part. No sympathy from me.

Fuck her. I only hope her children/grandchildren learn how stupid and crazy she is while she's serving her sentence.

sidenote: 6 grandchildren already at 42...this kind of maroon is how 'Idiocracy' starts. Keep pumping out more idiots.

I suspect that he KNOWS there was no voting fraud, but he has to show support for the "Stop the Steal" movement so he can keep getting that sweet Republican campaign fund money.

Another "texas man" as they imitate the iconic "florida man" level of ignorance. When first interview by the FBI, he thought they were investigating "the girl that got shot" or "stolen election"... fucking clueless... oh wait, he's from Texas, never mind.
