So I've had sleeping problems my whole life &
recently solved my life-long insomnia issues. One odd thing growing up was that I usually had bad dreams. Once I got treated for my stomach condition (SIBO), core issue (histamine intolerance), and sleep apnea (BiPap mask), I went to not remembering dreaming at ALL. Like just totally blank all night, which was a relief after having crazy-bad dreams all my life! Then one day I started having GOOD dreams & traced it, strangely enough, to
eating walnuts before bed. I've experimented with various methods over the last couple of years & settled on (1) not eating a couple hours before bed (due to reflux), but (2) having about a quarter-cup of fresh walnuts before bed (eating them on an empty stomach produced the strongest effect).
The other day, I saw that they make a capsule of walnut hulls, so I decided to give it a try, and it worked! It doesn't have as strong of an effect as fresh walnuts do, but I go from zero dreams to happy dreams, so it's very clear when I take it, that it works! Growing up with an undiagnosed stomach condition that caused anxiety, this is pretty novel to me! I still don't know what my body is deficient in that causes this. I also haven't really found much on the nutritional properties of the walnut hulls, so I don't know what vitamin or mineral or whatever is causing this effect, because it'd be great to isolate the specific thing that is boosting me from no dreams remembered to having good dreams!
With my histamine intolerance, I used to wake up with a cold sweat from night terrors. Basically, I'd just get a shock of adrenaline while I was sleeping lol. I put some feelers out on social media a couple years ago, but so far I haven't found anyone else who experiences "walnuts = good dreams". Very odd! But nice to be able to take a pill to get a similar effect! I tried out two pills last night, but it wasn't any different than one pill. I've also tried some various multi-vitamin type of stuff over the years, but haven't narrowed it down quite yet. Very specific situation with interesting results, haha! It's only ten bucks for 100 pills, so it's not too bad:
