Update: I had to remove the skin since it won't work with the MB-D18 Vertical Batter Grip, since the Power/signal contacts does not reach deep enough with the extra layer from the skin.

I know....I know...but when I was shopping for a new vehicle I knew I wanted a CUV EV and the only real options at the time were the Model Y, ID.4, or the Mach-E. I didn't want a Tesla and the idea of a VW didn't really appeal to me either.

So.......I bought a Ford!

Technically not an item, but recently did a purchase which totaled to $10,994.60.

Got a road built and a section of land cleared. I did buy a culvert, so guess that counts as an item I bought.

$8,650 for the land clearing and culvert, and $2,344.60 for 3 gravel loads.

The best part of all this is I stayed more or less within my 10k budget, it took 4 days instead of the original 2 I planed for but there was a lot of extra work that I did not anticipate in the original plan, but it just made sense to do it while they had the equipment out there. The ground was very rocky which made it difficult to flatten it as is or to even dig much, so had to bring in material from another part of the property that was not as rocky. I kinda got lucky that material was there and easily accessible. They must have moved like 50 dump trailer loads of it so that would have cost a lot if I had to buy it.

Due to the ground the outhouse and especially septic is going to be a challenge though, but I will figure that out at another time. There are options for doing a raised septic system and can do a compost outhouse as a temp measure.

Nothing on the new one ao far. The old ones always need something but the nephews love it so I guess it isn't " work." They live on a working farm so fixing things is in their blood.

Thanks. Wife want a Wrangler. But I'd like to compare a least two vehicles b/4 she decides (Probably next year). We both always bought Toyota or Honda, so this will be an interesting experience. I'll get the 'hand me down' CR-V.

Bought a new wrangler in 87...yeah, a lifetime ago. Had it 3 years. Loved it but it was a POS. Stayed in the shop. Slave cylinder on the clutch went out 3 times. It's in the bell housing. Brake master cylinder twice. Regular carb problems. Replaced the soft top after 2 years. Manifold gasket. The 1 time I needed 4 wheel drive, it wouldn't do it. And the gas gauge wasn't accurate. Ran out of gas 3 days after I bought it. Swapped it for a 90 Prelude. Had that for 19 years. It never left me on the side of the road. Current is a 2010 Tacoma, 125k miles. Could be the last vehicle I buy for myself. I expect 250k+.

just get a RAV 4 Hybrid. Best vehicle out now if you want a crossover/SUV vs a car, unless you want to tow heavier things.

There's also the Subaru Crosstrek hybrid, and for 2025 they'll apparently have a Forester hybrid.

IDK that they're better than the Toyota, but maybe worth looking at. Honda and Toyota hybrid systems might be a bit more developed, but I haven't read up on the Subies.

Edit: just read this - "According to a report from Motor1, Subaru of America COO Jeff Walters confirmed that the Forester Hybrid's battery pack and motor will be sourced from Toyota."

So, boxer gas engine (no surprise there) and a 'Yota electric motor and battery.

Sold the dji mini 2 and all the accessories for a few hundred, and picked up the mini 3 fly more combo on a really nice sale with the RC controller. Want to start shooting more drone stuff. It's all about the sensor size, and the remote helps too, better than using your phone.
