Welp, just impulse purchased 64GB of ram on ebay for $185.95 shipped.

4x sticks of 16GB, the same ones that are in the 2 SFF machines I recently ordered to build a Proxmox cluster with. Those finally came in the other day, they have 32GB each, but can go up to 64 so figured I'd max them out. Almost done converting all my ESXi VMs over and most of them are running on the new cluster now.

I really shouldn't be spending money right now but got to splurge once in a while. Been a long time since I did any kind of upgrade. I'm glad to have the majority of my stuff on Proxmox now. So much easier to manage as I don't need a Windows box to run the client, can do it right from the browser. Being able to live migrate stuff to different nodes is nice. Will play around with HA after I convert the existing server over to Proxmox so I will have 3 nodes total.

Do you have a trail camera to aim at it? I want videos of the cats batting the water stream across the room.

I finally broke down and got a fountain for the cats. I'm tired of those little assholes slopping the water everywhere. I'm hoping this fixes that.
Good luck. My cat sees the one water fountain I tried as something to play with and swat at the water. It's in the cupboard now. I will try a different one eventually with a much different flow method.

He likes drinking out of the dog's water bowl. He won't drink out of his own water bowl, but he did from the fountain. Too bad it was a toy.

So far, I've only observed the girl, and she said "I don't know what the fuck this is, and I'm not dealing with it right now", so the jury's still out :^D
The fountain's a winner so far. The girl complained about water last night, and I had to explain to her the fountain was her new water source. She seemed to accept that, and I saw her drinking from it tonight. I also saw the boy tonight, but he stopped whatever he was doing to look at me. I'm not seeing water on the floor, and it appears they're staying hydrated, so it all looks good.

Which one's your fav? Never had any of them. Not even sure the stores carry any of these in CA.

The only ones of these that I've had are the 4R Small Batch Select and the JD single barrel barrel proof rye, both of which I enjoy. Never had found an Old Forester single barrel bourbon till now (their single barrel rye is however incredible) for the Haystack Needle (very difficult t find of course lol). The KC Bourbon x Rye blend is a new product as is the HH Grain to glass rye.

These all came from a store in CA that posts almost all their inventory online and ships. Just habitually check them every morning for harder to find things.

Isn't screen illumination like a year 2016 feature? (looks like it originated with the Kindle Paperwhite in 2012)

Doesn't sound too remarkable, then?
Yeah, but the writing surface and clarity are amazing. The new version, with illumination, apparently makes a mess of PDFs. We can't have nice things.

panasonic ub450 bluray player. with sony and lg ending BR products i want to start filling out my archive disc collection. i'll rip them to mkv for daily usage but i still want somthing for viewing original bitrate.
this seems to be a modern min spec "good" version, (missing a few bells and whistles but supports both hd10 and dolby). on sale for $170 at amazon at the moment.
Nice, I recently got back into home theater and was looking for a reasonably priced BR player that would pair well with my new setup.

I have a question for you though. I purchased a Samsung S90D television and paired it with a Samsung HW-Q850D soundbar. Do you think that this BR player would pair well with this setup? I know that Samsung doesn't do Dolby Vision just HDR10 and 10+ so does it makes sense to purchase this player because of that?

I don't do any ripping just streaming from services like D+, Sling, Netflix, ect but the idea of collecting physical media for movies I really enjoy is kind of appealing to me. I just don't want to spend $170 if my new setup can't really take advantage of it. If you have any advice I would appreciate it.

i havent looked that deep into it. all i know is that last gen models were either dolbyvision or hdr10 and it caused trouble for compatibility when mixing brands with tv. the newest gen are just splurging for both standards which eliminates the headache. to get something older with both usually ended up costing you $400, so this at $170 makes it slightly more future proof.

the bigger problem is there are multiple versions of 4k BR discs. different companies use different settings/methods/tools along with color grading choices when mastering. a bunch of movies you think had a certain color tone look completely different on the 4k, but theoretically this is what the director wanted. you have to go to a BR nerd website to find the right version/sku.

if you search YT for the panasonic model number i posted, you should get a couple of videos explaining why this model is worth getting over last gen top end. for filthy casuals like myself, buying a decent player now ahead of any tarrifs means i can buy the discs at leisure. i took a chance on the $40 men in black trilogy even though the disc case is the cheap type that will let a disc pop out and possibly get scratched in shipping. there is a $100 version with individual cases for each disc, but i dont want to splurge for something im just using to test the player.

the real gotcha is now you have to look for 4k only discs sku. some have a 4k disc, and a 1080p disc, and a digital copy in one sku and they charge more for it. if you have a 4k player and 4k tv, you dont really need the 1080p disc unless you want to sell/give it away.

I purchased a Kindling Cracker to help me split firewood. This little thing works really well if you're trying to break down larger logs into smaller pieces for well.....kindling.

I know swinging an axe is more "manly" but with this all I need is my 4 pound hand sledge. Plus swinging an axe at my age gets less and less appealing every year. The back story on how it was developed is really cool to.

Last time I cut kindling with a hand axe my glasses slid off my nose just as I committed to the downstroke. Caught the glasses exactly on the bridge!
