I've never had the gunpowder proof, but the regular is my standard rum. It's delicious. I got on a little rum kick awhile ago, but became disenchanted with the spirit. There's little regulation on what constitutes rum, and some were way too sweet with added sugar. I may try a different brand again some time in the future, but the Pussers satisfies my rum urge. Since it isn't something I regularly drink, Pussers can be the sole rum, and it's always delicious and on point. I don't see me ever getting tired of it.

Just bought a Sony SS-CS8 center channel speaker to bring us up to a 3.0 setup (already had 2x SS-CS3 towers I got for $100 2-3 years ago) to try and improve some of the dialog clarity when we watch movies and TV (and in our 2 hour test, it definitely helps).

Bought a Samsung UN65JS9500 (curved) for $370 + $20 delivery/install @ FB Marketplace, seller lived 14 miles NE from me.
I had no means to pick it up, won't fit in my car. Works great. Samsungs last 4K 3D TV, the 65" sold for about $5k when introduced 2015.

I'm "retiring" my 2017 LG OLED55C6P (<5800 hours), which I barely used last year since I have concerns about potential burn-in. It will be in storage for now.

We tried out the fruit press I bought a few weeks ago. Thanks to @waffleironhead for the suggestion for a decent press at a reasonable price.

We got close to a gallon of fruit juice. It was a mix of cherries, watermelon, grapes, and strawberries. It worked great and the juice tastes really good.

Yeah, it's definitely been worth it. Going to a 2.0 setup with tower speakers from a cheapie sound bar was a big step up, but the center to bring it to 3.0 is really helping to bring the dialog out without having to either turn on captions or use the fancy receiver options to reduce dynamic range.

I always told myself I wanted to do a nice surround system, but have yet to do it. I bought wiring and hardware so I can run banana plugs from the wall to the other wall so I can run the back side speakers but have yet to actually install any of it. If ever I actually bother then I will get a decent system. For now, I just use the TV speakers. My living room is not exactly optimized for it though, it's not bad now that the fireplace is gone though, at least the couch is facing the TV... but it's still not the proper shape. Next house I want to build an actual home theatre/gaming room.

The center channel speaker is clutch. I have Klipsch right and left bookshelf speakers and a center channel for the TV. They aren't that great for music, But absolutely fantastic for TV And film. I have three Sonos speaker and the Sonos sub for music. It's just easy to use from my phone or computer.

But yeah as you said the center channel changes the game the most positive ways for dialogue .

If you can, definitely get a good subwoofer. That's where I splurged a little bit and got an SVS sub. The app is good, I can toss on the quiet preset when it gets later in the evening, or adjust whatever. I have a neighbor downstairs. But I've lived here for 6 years and knew the owner when she lived there and then once she started renting it out I knew the tenants, nobody complains. The developer did good between our floors. The sub absolutely changes the game though. Even if you don't have it very loud. And when you can blast it it's fucking amazing for movies.

There is no way for me to get more than 3.1 here unless you can do a 5.1 by putting the rear speakers in the ceiling facing down, which I haven't looked into.

It was so nice just watching House of the dragons on a great 3.1 set. I rewatched fury road last night full blast and it was glorious. Except I started to feel my 65-in TV was definitely too small 😂

I think it's ridiculous that it's 2024, mutli-language sound tracks are a thing, but 2.0 or even mono are not encoded on DVDs or BR disks. The space is there, use it.

Sub is not in the cards for us at the moment. The walls and floors of my apartment building are on the thinner side, so I don't want to piss off my neighbors. The towers also have pretty good bass response, so my 3.0 setup isn't so bad. And the towers also do well for music.

Microplastics is a horrible issue that is not given enough attention. I'd say it's just as bad, if worse, than climate change. As a start we really need to end the use of single use plastics, not just virtue signal about it but actually do it. And for permanent plastics need to use ones that are actually inert.
