Speaking of wood prices I was pricing out 2x12's and HOLY CRAP! Around $68 for a 16 footer. I don't know if that's always been that way or if this is still inflated prices but youtch. They probably have to import those so probably why they're so expensive. Been brainstorming on what I want to do for the floor for my cabin build and that's one option. I may actually just spend a little more and put in a cement slab, that way I can turn the first floor into a shop/garage and maybe even eventually put in a car lift. I've always wanted to get more handy when it comes to working on cars, it's just I'm really not well setup for it here in town. For upper floors I could use I joists as they won't be close to the ground and potentially subject to moisture.
I eventually want to setup a saw mill, but for now I'll just buy the lumber from a local mill so I can get building quicker. There's a mill here that sells 2x6x12 for a super good price like $6 or something like that compared to $16 at HD. I will probably buy several skids of those and design most of my build around that size lumber.
