They use a little machine that plows a trench and drops in the piece of fiber at the same time. It's only about 6" deep, and only for runs from the box at the sidewalk to the connection at my house. Around 80'. The replacement is free if breaks because of ground movement, a hundred bucks for being stupid. I knew exactly where the cable was, but didn't think about it till I was drilling post holes and the wife came out and said the internet was down. I looked in the hole I was drilling and saw the tattered remains of my high speed fiberoptic cable. Took the installer an hour to replace it.
6" wont be below frost line, but if you are not in snow country it is not much of an issue.

Got the Kobo Clara yesterday and after some fiddling around with Calibre and plugins I got the downloaded Kindle books to the Kobo with cover art.

I knew the Kobo was lighter and a smaller 6" screen, which is what Kindle had for years, but I didn't realize the size difference was so stark. I am definitely loving the lightness, and I think I am going to enjoy the smaller factor - this will fit into my small urban slings easier, and all of them, not just some of them. We will see after some longer-term usage. But started reading book 1 of the Murderbot Diaries last night, and it was very nice.

Looks like I'll be using both the Kindle and Kobo for a bit. I was going to sell the Kindle but it seems for now I have to keep it. I just started book one of the Murderbot Diaries and love it. It's short so I'll finish it this week. There are like 7 more books. You gotta buy them all on Kobo. I still got two weeks on a kindle unlimited trial and after that it's $12 a month. All the Murderbot Diaries are included with Kindle Unlimited. But not Kobo Plus, which is there version of Kindle unlimited. I think I'll save a lil money finishing that series. I cut Bezos out of my life for the most part save groceries, so I'm not going to shoot myself in the foot to rush off the Kindle.

I feel a little guilty but I cut out Amazon prime and Amazon.com which was like 80% of my spending with that fucker. Work is tight right now. Oh well.

Might as well take advantage of any benefits you can. Bezos has no idea who you are, and doesn't care if you're on a kindle for a couple more weeks. If anything, you're probably costing him a little money by using the trial and bailing. Take the little wins as you can.

Dubai chocolate...

and fishies...

The fishies were a spur of the moment buy. I was on amazon looking at old orders, and noticed these had dropped a little in price. They're also Canadian made, so I figured now was the time to buy.

The Dubai chocolate is really good. It should be for what it cost. I've had a similar flavor/texture before, but where isn't coming to me. I feel like it was maybe chocolate from the UK, but I'm not sure. I'll try to figure it out as I get through the bar. Gonna go slow to make it last.

Any plans for him? Riding? Cart pulling? Logging? :^D
Might try getting him ready for riding this summer if he behaves. I kinda think that he'll be ok with it (apart from being a bit lazy) as he's happy to have you leaning over him now. Only thing he doesn't like is having his feet picked up but he's going to have to put his big boy pants on and get used to that.
There's a cart available that would fit him and he's certainly got the build for it but I can see him just standing there rather than pulling!
