What annoys me is the proliferation of easy, cheap, and high quality theft tools. For less than $200, you can go to homedepot and buy a lockbreaker that'll extract a bike(or other metal items) in minutes. Of course there's no way to fix it, cause the lockbreaker has more legitimate uses than not, but it's unfortunate.

Full rebuild kit for the group head and a new 3-way water valve for my espresso machine. I've had it for about 5 years, so it was about time. Also, the existing 3-way valve started leaking internally causing the water reservoir to fill and overflow onto the counter.

Theft has gotten so bad now, and the people voted for 4 more years of this. The catch and release program is the issue. Thieves don't get in any kind of trouble so why would they stop. They just stole a bronze plaque off a Ukrainian monument here a while ago. They go after anything that has even some small value now. In the GTA car theft is super bad too, the mayor even told residents to leave the keys in an easy accessible place so that thieves have an easier time to find them when they break in your house at night while you're sleeping. They have zero interest in stopping this and our hands are tied as if we intervene then we get in trouble.

The liberals are the reason it's this bad, that's just the reality of it. They do not believe in putting criminals in jail.
I am in Texas, one of the most Red and Conservative State in the Union. Actually here are the liberals (normal people here in my county and cities) that want to punish those who committed crimes, while conservatives like my neighbors want more freedom so they could stand their ground when shxt hits the fan and they come for their stuffs (i kid you not. This was what were talked about all the time while we have block parties)

I've been considering a vice from the consignment shop, but haven't yet pulled the trigger. One of these days...

Yeah, I wasn't sure if it was really something I needed, but once I got it, I realized how helpful it is. Woodworking clamps and vice grips can only do so much - these things are huge frustration savers. They have a 3" which would be great for some of the smaller stuff I do, but it was in-store only and my time is worth more than the tiny price difference.

I want one on my truck. Your post got me thinking about it, and I could bolt one to the slab I have in place of the toolbox mount on the backrack. It would be in a thieveable location, but probably more of pita than it's worth for a thief.

big vice bolted to a 2" tube that goes in the hitch receiver. Stash when not needed, and be able to really reef on shit when you do need it.
