No one said banging a porn star is illegal in the US. That's not what this trial is about. It's about illegal hush money payments.

As long as we're just asking questions.

What about falling asleep at your own criminal trial, is that illegal?

What about farting in the court?

Isn't lust a sin in the bible?

Isn't adultery against the ten commandments?
In New York, where adultery is classified as a Class B misdemeanor that is punishable by up to 90 days in jail and a $500 fine.

Mike Johnson in the court room is completely inappropriate.

Hey Mike ... You took a vow to our Constitution...not to Trump! Unbelievable this guy and the other clowns Tuberville, Vance etc. pulling stunts at a criminal trial. Showing up to the courthouse to spew Trumps lies on TV. What is it about these weak-minded people's attraction to sociopaths?

These show stunts by these Republicans remind me of the Charles Manson cult girls performing their stunts outside the courthouse.

"Travesty of justice"? ... Since when is prosecuting an alleged criminal for crimes a " travesty of justice" Mike? It's not up to you to be the jury. Most people wouldn't be able to step foot outside the jail with that many charges pending.

He should be a legislator passing legislation for the people. Instead, he shows up in the GOP clown car at the courthouse to support their crime boss. And the kicker? .... Your King pays $130k to cover up something he didn't do! Total genius.

His attempt to interfere with the due process of the law and the duties of another branch of government is completely inappropriate and against his oath of office. These people are supposed to be working for the people of their districts, who by the way are footing the bill for this trip. They should not be getting paid to bootlick and kiss their cult leader's ring.

I never thought I'd see such a disgusting display of political corruption. Sitting US Senators and the Speaker of the House in a simp parade for a lying grifting criminal. If you are working for the guy on trial ... please resign your membership in Congress working for the American people and go work for him.

This post sums you up. Ignorant clown. He is on trial for fraud not cheating on his wife with a porn star. Damn, you are pathetic.
Right wing media has been incessantly parroting that they don't even know what crime Trump has been charged with. So far as to pretend the trial has no purpose as there's nothing to prosecute.

They are gaslighting the public into believing this is just a political prosecution, that there is no rule of law, and oh... and wouldn't it be great if there was some stochastic terrorism from the good guys to right these wrongs and save us from the evil communists. They may have only implied that last part, or hoped and prayed really hard that it would happen after all these hours they pour into making it happen. Like Jan 6th.

We have not seen the last of the coup, their defense of Trump DEMANDS it.

If they’ll ignore attempting an insurrection and election fraud, of course they’ll look past this “paper fraud”. And when Florida case finally comes to trial, the pretzel logic they’ll come up with to defend espionage and treason.

Banging a porn star isn't illegal.
It's not illegal, but asking for some consistency in one's views is fair game (e.g. Johnson being against porn but wholly supporting a guy banging pornstars). But barely anyone in the GOP (or their supporters it seems) appears to be capable of any consistency these days.

Looking at the congressional calendar congress was in session on that day.

If I did not show up to my job it would be on my record and could be fired for it just like millions of others.

Also congress gets a budget for travel I hope he used his own money for this.

Tommy Tuberville on why he attended the trial:

"Hopefully we’ll have more and more senators and congressmen go up every day to represent him and be able to go out and overcome this gag order, and that’s one of the reasons we went — is to be able to speak our piece for President Trump,”

Pathetic ... They are so blinded by the Trump derangement cult that they have no clue, or care why gag orders are imposed!

And now the prosecution will/should raise this with the judge.

All the remarks from Trump’s sycophant peanut gallery were eerily similar. like they were reading from a script.

Guilty of what, paying a pornstar to hide an affair?
Of being the victim of blackmail and extortion?

If you think MAGA believes Trump to be guilty, you haven't been paying attention.
Crime, what crime?
You point to some bookkeeping shit and they will reject the very notion.

For this case I am skeptical, but I am willing to let a Judge and a Jury decide - as they hold all the facts. The fine details of who did what when, and how that may apply to some written code.
But you are very mistaken if you think MAGA... thinks like you. Tribalism demands that they are all innocent and we are all guilty.
This case is pretty open and closed. The only way Trump gets even a hung jury is if some juror refuses to convict it's because of their own bias.

The falsification of the business records are obvious and open. There's no question there.
The only remaining question is if he falsified them in an attempt to commit another crime. The testimony to that effect has been overwhelming.

I don't see that view as inconsistent. Most people that are down on porn just don't want kids to have access to it. When it's a religious thing I firmly support their right to not watch it, and don't much care what they do in private.

It’s pretty inconsistent. Evangelicals used to pretend morality in public officials was very important right up until it was inconvenient. Then they stopped caring immediately.

Is that particularly unlikely though? We know that Trumpers are fairly immune to any ideas that go against what they already believe so if there's one on the jury I could absolutely see that happening.
At least it's in an area that isn't Trumpestan but it only needs one and there's a disturbing amount of them out there.

I mean it hasn’t happened in his other trials.

I think they would be effectively acting as agents of Trump if they directly violate the gag order on his behalf (particularly after admitting such!), and if they specifically endanger the jury or court staff, the judge could not only have the perps charged, he could also find Trump to be in violation of the gag order.

If this was federal court, Trump and his assisting perps could be looking at 10 years if they were found to specifically threaten, influence, or attempt to intimidate the jury or any court officer including a judge. However, I don't think federal law applies here, and my google search seems to show New York law far more lenient. Would be quite hard to argue Trump hasn't been attempting to influence or intimidate the judge, for example.

So far Trump's sock-puppets' comments haven't actually directly gone around the gag order (that I've seen).

Most people who are down on porn forget when they first saw it, or they're just severe hypocrites.

If there is a hung jury, and it's only one juror holding out, I’d expect the prosecution to retry it. The Prosecution could decide to retry the case even if there were 11 votes for “not guilty,” but they typically don’t in that situation. But 11 to 1 for guilty is usually retried. Everything in between takes some thought about what to do, but one hold out is usually seen as an aberration, and they’ll read the tea leaves. Now if there is more than one juror, say like three or four .... then it's hard to say what happens.

Speaking of Porn .... One of Trumps former White House aides and project 2025 operative John McEntee says in a Trump second term he will ban pornography. This idiot also wants to abolish the 19th amendment.

This is the same shithead who made a TikTok video bragging about how he gives counterfeit money to homeless people in hopes they’ll get arrested. The Secret Service are supposedly notified of his freely-given admission of criming:

These fine MAGA people who wrap themselves in the flag also have no problem with him storing and showing off highly classified material at his resort. Who gives a shit what they believe?

Conservatives are desperately trying to push the conversation away from the crime.

@Greenman I assume you agree it should be a crime to falsify business records so that you can commit more crimes. Right?
