Trump has so many court appearances past, present, and pending, it hard to keep them separate.

In just a few days, Trumps first criminal trial is scheduled to begin in NY, i.e., the hush money trial. This week, he failed in 3 desperate attempts to delay this trial, which is his best option. Appeal courts have denied his lawyers motions each time.

Would anyone be surprised that in his final attempt to delay the trial that Trump will walk into court alone on Monday, and say "your honor, I fired my lawyers because they are incompetent, and I need 'time' to hire new lawyers and get the up to speed, perhaps we can do this in 2025 or maybe never".

It would not surprise me, and I'd give it a probable tactic… maybe 20 - 30% chance…

If not, and the trial actually begins on Monday 4-15, and being a criminal trial, Trump has to be there.

Can he keep his upper asshole shut, or will the judge constantly be telling the lawyers to control your client? Could it get as bad as needing to remove him from the courtroom to a room where he can watch the proceedings, but not interrupt them or make comments the jury can hear.

If the trial actually begins, I am positive that he will be disruptive and be in full toddler tantrum mode, not to mention the rants for the press after court every day. It will be entertaining.

I would recommend that the judge get a good book dealing with child psychology for three-year-old tantrums and meltdowns.

He’s definitely pushing the judge to jail him by breaking the gag order. And how much will the judge allow before charged with contempt?

I'm so not familiar with any of these proceedings in New York.

I forget where I saw it, somebody was reading off a jury selection questionnaire. No telling if it was real. How do you find an impartial jury for this piece of shit in New York City?!

Does he really have to be in court for jury selection?! I can't stand to even see a picture of the tangerine terrorist on the Internet or on television. I cannot even fathom having to sit across from him in court!

This video hashes the issues pretty well:

Impartial in jury terms does not mean ‘do you like them’ it means if you are able to put aside your feelings to render a just verdict.

I would say 'sadly, no', but I'm not really sad. This is going to be a case where Trump and his associated Trumpkins do whatever they can to unmask the identity of the jury so that they can issue death threats, intimidate them, go after them in life more generally. You'll be looking over your shoulder for years.

As far as the 1st criminal Trump trial. I am kind of feel underwhelmed by these New York charges. I am more looking forward to the trials for insurrection etc.

While they are probably the least consequential charges they are still serious felonies. They only look 'underwhelming' next to the colossal other crimes he's indicted for. It's basically what John Edwards was indicted for and nobody thought that was underwhelming at the time, and there's a good case that absent this crime Trump would never have become president. That's a big deal.

My recommendation for the judge is to do their damn job when it comes to Trump acting like a petulant child in court, which is what he's done up til now. Pretend it's Joe Shmoe aka regular guy, and treat Trump accordingly. It's simple. So sick of kid gloves for this entitled fuckstick.

Trump wants to be jailed. That can only help his election. He has already proclaimed that he is sent from God. Being persecuted and as close to a martyr as possible (while staying alive) is red meat for his supporters. A short stint in jail is perfect for his messaging that the government is against his voters and only Trump is willing to take the ultimate sacrifice for them.

A large fine (or series of large fines) is the only way to actually punish Trump if he breaks this gag order too.

History is full of martyrs you never hear about. Fuck him, let him sacrifice himself. He'll be dead before he leaves prison and any of his would-be fanatics can get jailed right next to him if they start shit. I'm tired of people letting him walk out of fear of the consequence of just prosecution.

I think what they are saying here is that jailing him in response to his violations of the gag order may be counterproductive and I sort of agree. I think a series of large and escalating fines would deny him the photo op he wants while still punishing him.

Once he's convicted though? Lock his ass up.

Can’t exactly say ruling is wrong. Judge won’t allow Access Hollywood video. He won’t allow the allegations that came out after the video.

Guess he’s trying to keep it only about the improper use of campaign funds.

Yes, that was my point. Attempting to lock him up could be the best way to give him a victory and then he'll just pardon himself. It isn't like he'll spend any time in jail as he'll appeal it until the election is over anyways.

If he becomes president again he’s not going to prison in any state prison either.

The benefit is that other republicans couldn’t pardon him or whatever.

He wants to be jailed so he can look like a tough guy. He cannot be inconvenienced in any way. The way his “Jail Term” would have to look is thousands of people outside cheering for him. Him getting another tough guy mug shot. He wants someone to close the cell, get a tough looking picture of him in jail then seconds later have the door unlocked and he flys away in his helicopter.
He wants to be pretend jailed.

If he was convicted and sentenced to prison and was then elected president, what would happen?
