Revolting... And also likely to get away with it.
This brazen practice has already lured AMD to increase the TDP in their newest chips... Bulldozer lessons be damned!
I never knew how deep this rabbit hole goes...

Alright... let's revisit the thread, five years later.
As it happens, by 2024, I have become familiar with all the B450 boards mentioned in the entire discussion.
I got the Asus first... then the Gigabyte, during a sale.
And during the pandemic, I built computers for others, using the Asrock...
How can you determine that there's no POST without a graphic card? Your CPU doesn't have a video output. And when you say "I flashed the newest BIOS (even after removal the processor)" it makes no sense.
Basically, troubleshooting this requires stripping down the computer to the bare minimum -...
The build is ready - had to wait for the CPU to arrive.
At the very last moment, I decided to change the cooler. I ended up installing a Be Quiet! Shadow Rock LP, paired with a slim Noctua fan. The cooler was 75 cm tall with its factory fan, so this arrangement is actually 2mm shorter than the...
Fascinating... I didn't expect to see a general consensus for the B550!
Looking at already existing builds, I see this CPU paired with the Asus, never with the Asrock.

Hello everyone,
I am putting together a gaming system inside a Lian-Li Q58 case.
The GPU will be a RTX 2060 Super. The cooler is the AXP120-X67.
And the CPU will be a 5700X3D.
I can use an Asus ROG Strix B450-i Gaming or an ASRock B550M-ITX/AC.
The Asus board is older, with PCIe 3.0, not 4...
I see you're also running one of these chips, in a dedicated motherboard combo. Checked it out, it's quite wild: Laptop memory, regular ATX power, lots of USB, 4 SATA ports... And you're running Windows 10 on it? How does it perform? Are there any glitches or errors in programs or games?

Probably one of the most comprehensive deconstructions of corporate greed.
I wish there were more stories like these being written!
What I, personally, find distasteful, is the fact that one one hand we're beginning to realize that humanity needs to curb its energy consumption and carbon emissions, in order to slow down climate change, while on the other hand greedy companies like Intel are wasting insane amounts of energy...
