Nvidia uses memory compression technology but I have no idea if that helps cards utilize frame buffer more efficiently. If such a magic technology actually works, then 8GB should be enough for the time being till 1440p resolutions. But I don't know if it helps.
No way it would have been $179 even without mining. It would have replaced 5600xt at $249. That's its natural price point. So AMD is pocketing an extra $79 due to mining.
If you keep the shortage due to miners aside, component prices have gone up 20-25% so that would impact the cost of graphics card by atleast 10%. So if it weren't for pandemic, 6600xt would be $300. Now adding increased component prices into the mix, 6600xt should be $330. So its $50 overpriced...
