The honnest debate is to provide infos and expectation based on actual knowledge, not to play children games with traps to entertain the masses at the expense of whoever is in the technical world, so far none of those deffamators provided any slide that is of interest or any info that cant be deducted by the basicaly knowledgeable joe.

MLID / RGT and others are just middlemen. They get given info of dubious provenance and fart out a video / article about it. It can be entertaining the same way a sports silly season is entertaining. On occasion you get a big leak like RDNA 2 Infinity Cache or Lewis to Ferrari which looks like more nonsense but on rare occasions it actually turns out to be legit and its pretty cool.

Of course, it s from this slide that they had the "idea" that there is 6 ALUs as well as the correct AGU count and many other things, so much for the cope.

I wonder what tech journalism websites will do with this whole debacle. They often put out articles quoting leaks from MLID.

Obviously the likes of WTFTECH will continue to gargle MLID's [Redacted]. But what will the more 'dignified' websites like videocardz and notebookcheck do? Will they stop sourcing leaks from MLID, henceforth?

Somebody needs to write an article detailing this whole fiasco, the sting operation, the bait and how MLID got exposed.

It needs to be posted on reddit. Those folks are still blissfully unaware, it seems.

Referencing MLID has been banned from multiple PC/console related sub-reddits. So that may be why it's not being talked about there.

Edit: Not all so if you mean lots of reddit people trust him, well, you can lead a horse to water. . .

You all think it's a question of proof. You don't get it at all.
If someone here made a MLID-like channel that provided a narrative that people liked, it would kill MLID by virtue of just being more reliable.
If all you have is "MLID is wrong, look, here's the proof", the people that go listen to hear a nice story they like will get defensive, because you're killing their little happy world.

That info is from code updates that @DisEnchantment shared so not exactly undisclosed and out of the public domain.

It s obvious that they borrowed from MLID old slide, i mean, larger L1 DTLB spec FI is not on the optimisation manual since that s not needed to optimise code contrary to the L1 size spec, actually i dont think that they even bothered to look at the OM, they took what was available rapidly.

This really feels a lot more like the time chips and cheese pushed out that fake CPUz pic and let the leaker sites publish it before coming clean that it wasn't real. Putting fake info out there for the sake of it doesn't elevate you above people like MLID or the others.

Seriously this drama is completely invented, patting yourself on the back for feeding a captive fish poison food is the greatest cope of all. Yall are in the drama hobby, not technology.

I've defended him before. He has had some legit and important leaks, but this is bad. Very sloppy journalism.

Hard to say whether his hit-rate will go up or down after this. He might become more diligent, yet at the same time legit sources may be less likely to contact him now that his image is damaged.

Yeah lots of dumb people are out there on the internet, but its up to US, the end users of the forums to decide what we think and talk about.

I hate MLID and all the fake leakers, but people making fake leaks to send to fake leakers, just also makes them one of the fake leakers.

A real "tech nerd" takes in information, discerns facts, and moves on. This was a coordinated effort seemingly by multiple people that use this forum to discredit someone by feeding them fake information that they made themselves. Thats pretty over the top levels of hate.

The reason I've always been very mild about MLID, even after understanding that the man invents most of what he leaks or presents, is that I don't find him very harmful.
But I'm not a tech nerd, I'm just an observer of the tech world. Tech nerds I've met here and elsewhere are RABID about him. Because he is acting like he's doing the same business as them, enjoying technology and talking about it publicly, leaking things, but in fact he mostly cares about the commercial/product aspect and barely cares at all about the inner workings of electronics.

He also has an ego problem where he probably knows somewhere that he is a hack, but his reputation and business rely on him seeming legitimate, so he gets extra insistant about how "This channel (me) exclusively leaked" and "As revealed by MooresLawIsDead (me)"...kinda goes over the line for a lot of tech nerds.
Being a LARPer that doesn't really understand the space is one thing. Being the guy that talks over everyone else about how He is The Trustworthy Leaker while being a hack, it really grates the actual leakers wrong.

For example RGT, who is worse than MLID in every last way, feels more like someone that's laughed at. MLID is way past laughing at. It is really hate, and truly a psychological one. I don't share it, but I understand it.

Simple: he's open to discussion. I've tried talking with tech nerds many times, it's a REDACTED labyrinth of autism. MLID isn't even a particularly good interviewer, he rambles and tends to talk over his guests, but he talks games, servers, chips, performance, market, strategies, products, development, etc.
Most people that are truly competent at something do not understand this, but the hack's talent is that he fakes being competent well enough while taking in knowledge and opinions from everyone around him. This makes the hack a very good conversation center, someone who will listen to you, get interested, or at least feign interest, in many subjects. It makes him a great hub of information. Trust me, I'm a hack. I don't know a thing about semiconductors but I just listen left and right and learn.

You may hate MLID for being a fake, but the fact that he is shallow/fake is also why people will talk to him rather than someone ultra-competent and incredibly difficult to bring to an open discussion. I see tons of very different people at Broken Silicon, and every single nerd clowning on MLID cannot even begin to hold a conversation with the people he gets there. An economy, including an economy of information, isn't about competence but about networking different competences together. MLID just happens to be the best we have in terms of open tech conversation.
